About Me
Hi! My name is Simon Hradil-Kasseckert.
In August, I wrote the last exam for my mechanical engineering degree at the University of Victoria in Canada. Instead of scrambling to find a job, I decided to return to Germany to spend a few months visiting family and exploring Europe.
Taking a step back to see the bigger picture is important to me. Last summer, I did this by loading up my bike and pedalling my way across North America. And I'd like to do something similar before starting my career.
On 04 Oct 2022, I'm leaving Munich to start a backpacking adventure through Europe. I'll be travelling to Budapest by train, and then to Istambul by plane. From there, I'll be finding my way back through Greece, Albania, Montenegro, and Croatia.
Upcoming Travel Plans:
• 1st Stop: Budapest (04 Oct – 07 Oct 2022)
• 2st Stop: Istambul (07 Oct – ?? Oct 2022)
• ??? Stop: Izmir (?? Oct – ?? Oct 2022)
• ??? Stop: Athens (?? Oct – ?? Oct 2022)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Many of the most memorable experiences during my bike tour were meeting people through WarmShowers (the cycle tourists' equivalent of CouchSurfing). As a solo traveller on a college-student budget, it made it possible for me to connect with other cycle tourists and sleep indoors from time to time.
I found the community to be full of kind, adventurous people and figured CouchSurfing would be an excellent way to continue meeting like-minding people during my vagabonding adventures.
