About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To make sweeping generalisations based on 3-day stays in European countries. NO WAIT...
ABOUT ME
I am a 29 year old Kiwi living in Austria, and love meeting new people, seeing new places and even more, trying new food and drink. I love live music, and will go to gigs whenever I can!
I don't have that many references because I did most of my travelling as a group, so did it under different profiles...but I'm a friendly chap. I live in a tiny 1-bedroom apartment and am working on my thesis but there is always a chance someone can stay. I'm getting my dose of international conversations from all of the foreign students here in Graz. And learning German of course!
PHILOSOPHY
I guess I always was a curious child, hence my choice to study science. I want to know everything. I spend days cramming knowledge into my brain (and some nights erasing it...whoops). I'm interested in science, politics, music, food, comedy, and lots more. The best source of knowledge (and awesome stories and friendship) is people!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I hosted people when I was in NZ, and hope to again once I have a bigger place. I generally just roam around and meet people!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Many cities in the USA, plus Fiji, Reykjavik, Zurich, Brussels and Florence. And hosted people in NZ. I've also bought a bike off Couchsurfing in the Netherlands. It's so handy!
Interests
Good beer, good food, cooking. Music (playing & listening), debating topics such as climate change (don't worry...I'm on the good side), the ethics of meat eating, environmental issues. But don't think I am a hippie wackjob unable to take a joke. I also vow to never turn down the chance to swim in the ocean. I don't care how cold it is. I have swum in a hole in the ice.

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies...I'm up for anything that doesn't involve vampires, musicals or forensics. Music = Bon Iver, Feist, Chromeo, First Aid Kit, The Mars Volta, Sly & The Family Stone.
Books = I have to be honest, I'm more of a non-fiction kinda guy. Right now I'm reading 'On Food and Cooking: The Science and Lore of the kitchen' and it fascinates me. It's a combo of history, science and of course food!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The Golden Circle trip in Iceland from 10pm till 4am....no one else around, it was always light because the sun doesn´t really set in June. Magical.
Teach, Learn, Share
You travellers to NZ: Don't skip Wellington. Spend at least a weekend there! And get a local to show you the best places. If you have enough money, get some punch at Motel (incredible cocktail bar), or try Matterhorn. If you're on a tight budget, try the lamb shish at Phoenecian Felafel. If you're vegetarian or vegan, head to Midnight Espresso (day or night) for yummy things. And if you're thirsty & like craft beer, head to Hashigo Zake. Anything else....just ask me (since I've been gone a year or so, I can ask friends).
