About Me
short answer:
Still looking for the purpose of my life....almost there btw ;)
long one:
I used to run an internet cafè/cocktail bar in the city centre, I did that for 15 years. It made me who I was, there was a kind of symbiosis between it and me. I was it, it was me. I created it from scratch, I designed it and made it. I was proud of it...of her :)
It was a successful bar and it was a historic piece of Catania. Still now, customers remember it with affection, I was Simona/internetteria. Many of my current friends come from that cafè. My last employees have been with me for the last 8 years and are very close friends of mine... It was a beautiful experience, a self-growth journey, yet, at a certain point, it became overwhelming, my mind was with it 24/7. I felt in a cage. I missed being creative, I ended up enjoying my cafè only during renovation... so I sold it and decided to pursue my inner voice... I needed to create, I wanted to be a designer!
I went to Ireland (to which I'll be always thankful) to learn English and figure out where to start to become a designer...
Losing what I was, and starting over was the toughest thing I have ever done. I felt like to be no one! That was scary and destabilizing, I had an identity crisis that lasted a few years, actually...
Long story short, in less than 4 years there I took a bachelor's degree as a designer and model maker. I got a job which allows me to travel because I work from my pc and I developed a deep interest in ethics, sustainability, bio construction, inclusion and things that will make the world a better place. And I want to commit to this mission!
I see this as the purpose of my life, among trips and new meetings :)
Thank you for choosing to read the long version! So, if you know a good therapist let me know! :D I'm kidding I feel great and free, finally...
I have a tip for you! If you want to improve your life go for it and don't look at your age. If you feel it you can do it! it's worth a crisis of identity for a while ;)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I like to meet new people, smell different cultures, and speak mixing languages. Cooking and eating, acknowledging the "diverse" .. to teach my land and to learn about different places.
I deeply believe in enrichment through knowledge and exchange.
No barriers, no labels, no harm and first of all respect!
I love travelling, I worked hard to get the freedom to move (and not just travel)...and when I can't, hosting people is an alternative way to travel!
Sorry if at the moment I'm not able to accept guests, I'm currently a traveller!

Music, Movies, and Books
Electronic music, samba, bossa nova, alternative indie, french pop...that's my music but I'm open to all if is good quality (or if it is funny :P)
I love documentaries, especially about society, motivational films, biographic ones, superheroes, comedies and sci-fi.
My rule about books is, to vary the kind of reading, book by book. Especially if they aren't Novel.
I'm aware of the power of a book and I like to have an open mind about an idea or concept. That's why I don't want to get stuck in the author's point of view but take their perspective into account and see what else we have... A book can be a deep trip into a convincing reality and can lead to a path. That's why can be useful to read a Gandhi biography along with the "Mein Kampf". There's always a reason (to find) for everything (at everything)!
