Overview
About Me
I know a lot about sea creatures and love listening to podcasts. I am full of approximate knowledge about many sciency things and love to tell stories of weird situations I've found myself in. Some days I want to go out and snorkel for 5 hours, other days I just want to sit in front of a computer and game. I do my best to be minimalist, choosing to carry only that which is essential. Biking is my favourite way to get around a city, but I'll take public transit for longer distances. Besides trips that I have done with my family, I have only ever traveled solo.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To get a more genuine traveling experience. To really get to know a place and its people, and to hopefully make meaningful connections with people all over the world.
Interests
Given that my degree is essentially biology with a bit of social science, I am really fascinated with wildlife, and seeing wild places and creatures always tends to be a priority in my travels.
I love pretty much any activity that is on the water. I really enjoy surfing, kayaking, and snorkeling just to name a few. More generally, I'm someone who loves to try new things to stay active. Currently (pun not intended), I'm really excited to learn how to river kayak, and I'd love to learn how to spearfish.
I sometimes make really bad jokes.

Music, Movies, and Books
I have a soft spot for animated series such as Adventure Time, Over the Garden Wall, and Rick and Morty.
When it comes to music, my tastes are somewhat broad and I'm terrible at describing genres. I listen to indie-rock playlists and pick out the few songs I like. At the moment, I rather like Honne, Glass Animals, and The Whitest Boy Alive. I often get sea shanties stuck in my head.
I read a lot. This past (northern hemisphere) summer, I finally read the Harry Potter series and am currently reading through the Inheritance cycle. Most of the time, though, I just go into a library and meander through until I find an armload of interesting stuff.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I spent a couple nights in a research station in the cloud forests near Monteverde in Costa Rica. Just outside my room was an unobstructed view of the Arenal Volcano surrounded by lush forest. I was the only one staying there apart from the Tico family running the station, so I knew I was the only one out on the trails and got to see a lot of wild animals. The family running the station was incredibly sweet and made some really incredibly delicious food, and at nighttime, I got to watch fireflies dancing in the dark just outside my window.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I think that every interaction we have with other people changes us and teaches us something new about ourselves, and that's essentially what I'm hoping to bring to any host. More practically, I would love to help you cook, clean or play you some music (I play guitar and sing).
