Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Walk, bus, and ride around the world, meet people, and be fascinated.
ABOUT ME
This is a difficult question... but I love to converse with people (both old friends and new), write about people and places and things that can't always be seen. Eating. Cooking. Eating what I cook. Eating what other people cook.
PHILOSOPHY
Borrowed from writer Kobo Abe in The Ark Sakura: "I believe that the eupcaccia is symbolic of a certain philosophy or way of life. However much you may move around, as long as the motion is circular you haven't really gone anywhere; the important thing is to maintain a tranquil inner core."
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've been moving around a lot recently, but I look forward to hosting surfers when I have a more permanent place to live.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I had a great time CouchSurfing in Belgium, and I've made some great friends from the COuchSurfing meetings in Utrecht and Amsterdam! The first CouchSurfing host I ever had was a great introduction to the whole community, as he offered me a last-minute couch in Brussels, gave me some great recommendations for what to do in the city, and shared a good dinner with me on my last night in town despite his busy schedule.
Interests

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Got teargassed shooting photos of a workers' protest during my first reporting internship in Santiago, Chile. (Protests are always incredible to see in different parts of the world... especially since it is so uncommon in the United States.) The Moon Temple on Huayna Picchu, and the sun rising pink over torpedo-shaped mountains while climbing the stone steps to Machu Picchu. The thin valleys in Chile's Norte Chico, like vegetation bleeding up through wounds cut into the stone mountains. The Columbia River Gorge in Oregon. The Big Four ice caves in Washington. The cobblestone streets of Utrecht. Steering a boat through Amsterdam's canals... Hopefully many more to come.
