Hi! I’m Simone, I am 21 years old, from the Netherlands and I am a vegetarian.
I love to travel and meet people from all over the world. During my journeys I have always got in contact with local people and people from other countries and I still keep in touch with friends I met during my journeys some years ago.

I recently finished my bachelor in tourism and from this September on Im going to do the master in media practice for development and social change in the UK. Beside that I found the tourism study program really interesting (I love to learn more about tourism and about other cultures), it also included some great fieldtrips, such as the research project I did on the Indonesian islands Bali and Flores. Also, I have studied and lived in Wisconsin, USA, for half a year. It was great to live in another country for a while, having the time to get to know a place and its culture and people better.

At the moment I am not able to host any guests, but I hope to be able to accept guests soon and for now I would love to show people around in the Netherlands.

Beside travelling, my other passion is dancing. I like several dancing styles, but at the moment I mostly like to dance salsa, bachata and zouk. Also, My friends are really important for me, so I like to spend a lot of time with my friends. Finally, I want to get the most out of my life and believe it’s better to regret something you have done, than to regret something you haven’t done.

I believe that the people you meet during your journeys add the most value to your journeys and make your experiences unique. Couch surfing enables me to meet people from all over the world. Moreover, it enables me to get to know what local people think of their place and culture and they can make me aware of places and things I would otherwise not have known and/or visited.

Algo increíble que he hecho

In 2014 I have done voluntary work in the Czech Republic together with a team of international volunteers to learn about the situation of Roma people and to organize activities for Roma children who are socially excluded. It was amazing to see how these children enjoyed the activities and how, although we did not understand each other’s languages, we could communicate with each other and make fun. Also, it was great to meet the volunteers from all over the world.
