About Me
Hi there,
my name is Simone and I like to meet people from all over the world. I've been traveling frequently in the past couple of years, mostly in Europe, the US and Australia.
To me, feeling a sense of community is one of the feelings I really enjoy. I am engaged in my neighborhood and help out in an animal shelter. I care deeply about environmental issues and do as much as I can to improve the area around me. I also volunteer for Viva con Agua, an organization which helps to build wells in many parts of the world to provide clean drinking water to the communities.
I just finished the decoration of my apartment and am interested in meeting and hosting travelers.
Feel free to message me if you are interested in meeting up or staying a night.
As I am an environmentalist at heart, I'd also like to meet other environmentalists, environmental scientists, oceanographers and other people who care about this planet as much as I do. I'm also a writer, very creative and love getting to know other artists and creative persons :-)
Cheers,
Simone
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I studied geography because I am interested a lot in different landscapes, cultures and habits. I like to learn about other traveler's biographies and what motivates them to do what they do. I'm interested in how other people see the world and what matters to them most.
These days, I am not as much of a party person than I used to be. I rather enjoy the nature surrounding me, go hiking, visit nice parks and have some picnics. I'd like to show travelers some of the natural world in Essen which is greener than most people assume.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like reggae music a lot like Bob Marley and his sons and also Dancehall like Konshens. It's one of my dreams to attend Reggae Sumfest in Jamaica one day.
My favorite movies are "The pursuit of happyness" and "Seven Pounds". I also like Disney movies a lot, especially the old classics (Who can say no to Ariel?).
I've read more than 1,000 books in my life so it's hard for me to tell which were the best. A book I read recently and I liked a lot is "Der Zorn des Oktopus" which takes place in the near future and describes how the climate crisis could be solved globally (with many twists and turns of course).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
My best friend and I drove to the Californian desert to stargaze. There was so little light pollution that we could see millions of stars. So beautiful! It was at the Anza Borrego Desert State Park and some of my profile pictures were taken there. We listened to Kygo's "stargazing" while sitting there and I'm never gonna forget this moment!
Teach, Learn, Share
I always consider myself as a student of life. I see the world not as it is but as I am. Thus, I'm always interested in different perspectives and opinions and cultural differences. I am conviced that I can learn something from anybody as other people have a very different upbringing and skillset. Everybody is unique and making experiences together is priceless to me.
