About Me

While raised in my beloved Green Mountain State, I've found home in quiet places all over the world from the impenetrable forest of Uganda to the highlands of Tanzania. The most poignant experiences in different places often came about in conjunction with the human beings I met along the way, from those who shared a meal to those who opened up their home to me. An avid traveler, outdoorswoman, and aspiring psychologist, my curiosity to better understand the way humans think and behave is unending - I promise I am a great listener, and love to hear people's stories and ideas about why humans do what they do. A lover of animals, art, children, and all things nature, I'm always down to experience a new place through the eyes of those who love it most, and call it home.

Music, Movies, and Books

Would love any book recommendations, but here are some of mine:
Dr. Zhivago - both book and movie
Love's Executioner - for the psychoanalysis fiends
The Body Keeps the Score - a heady intro to understanding how trauma manifests in the body
The Omnivore's Dilemma - Michael Pollan
The Geography of Nowhere - James Howard Kunstler
Fahrenheit 451 - Ray Bradbury
The Alchemist - Paulo Coelho
Half of a Yellow Sun - Chimimanda Ngozi Adichie

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once took a nap at the top of a now defunct volcano on the border of Uganda and the Congo in a ranger hut because hiking is exhausting work!

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm always down to trade a home-cooked meal for knowledge of any kind - new languages, thoughts about the world, music interests, insider tips for travel, and beyond
