About Me

Hi!

My name is Simone Natal, and I'm a 29 year old lawyer from São Paulo, State of São Paulo, Brazil. I'm really easy going and chill, and I love to have a good laugh about things.

Since an early age I've always been interested in travelling and meeting new people and places. When I was fifteen, I chose not to have a big birthday celebration (which is pretty traditional in Brazil) and instead asked my parents to give me money to travel later.

That opportunity arrived one day after I completed 18 years old, when I boarded to Toronto to have what would be the best experience of my life. I lived in Canada for only a semester, but it made me realize early on that I wanted to travel for the rest of my life.

I feel very strongly that the world is one and that imaginary lines shouldn't divide us. Also, I trully believe that travelling gives you the best learning experiences in life.

"Travelling is a school of humilty; it makes one feel the limits of one's own understanding [...] Many things fall when one travels: certainties, values, feelings, expectations that are lost on the road - the road is a hard but also good teacher" (Claudio Magris).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I started attending Couchsurfing events in São Paulo in 2014 and I was immediately hooked.

Now that I have already travelled to a bunch of places, I realized that my best travel experiences were and will always be the ones were I am able to connect more deeply with the places and the people, and Couchsurfing is all about that.

Interests

Exchanging and meeting new people and places is definetly my biggest passion. Besides that, I love hanging out, mostly to bars, restaurants or my friends houses to talk, watch movies, eat, drink and have a good time!

Music, Movies, and Books

I probably watch more movies, series and documentaries than I should in my free time. I love them all, and I am one of those people that have to watch every movie and series nominated to awards shows so I can cheer for my favorites.

I also love books and try to keep up with my reading in this Netflix/internet world. Stephen King is my favorite writer, and one of my favorite books of all time is the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy ("A towel is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have").

Although I am not a music fanatic, I enjoy listening to music and going to a good live concert. I absolutelly love rock and brazilian music. And I have a Beatles poster in my law firm work station, haha.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have a real pleasure in exchanging with other people.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'd love to share my knowledge of brazilian music, movies, stupid stuff and even politics if you are into it! I can try to help with brazilian law if you need, and even with basic portuguese. Also, I know how to make a killer caipirinha and a pretty ok brigadeiro!
