About Me

ABOUT ME

'Nunca dejes de sonreir, ni siquiera cuando estás triste porque nunca sabes quien se puede enamorar de tu sonrisa.' (Gabriel García Márquez)

'Never stop smiling, not even when you're sad because you never know who could fall in love with your smile.'

This is one of my favorite statements, which I think describes me very well. I am a very positive, sociable and open-minded person who LOVES to get to know new people and places. I think that with every experience we make - be it a good or a bad one - we grow and develop our personality further. This is why I enjoy traveling on my own - you're just more open for new things, you talk to strangers, make new friends and possibly they will change your way of seeing things.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING I have already been a guest in many homes and I think I am really easy-going and flexible. If you would like to show me around I would be pleased, but if you don't have the possibility to do so it won't be a problem for me at all to scout out a place on my own either. I will also be happy to show you something of my own culture and certainly you will realize very soon that not all of the Germans are cold, serious people who never laugh - as I feel I am the exact opposite of that! :) ———————-Now if YOU want to surf MY couch, I’ll be pleased to show you around my town as well. Just make sure that you tell me in advance as I travel a lot. Also IMPORTANT if you want me to accept you: please mention a ‘something typical’ that you could share if asked by your host (see 'Teach, Learn, Share' ;)). No worries, you don’t necessarily need to cook - I only want to see that you really read my profile and are interested in getting to know me, not just in a free accommodation ;)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE I like couchsurfing because it is a great possibility of getting to know places and people within a very short time. Every time I surfed someone's couch I felt as if I was living there on my own - you learn where foreigners go to eat, to party and you even get to meet their friends who - within a short time - can also become your own friends :)

Interests

Getting to know the world and its people, sharing my experience with them and learning from theirs :)
Currently, I am on a sabbatical leave for a year, so I am planning quite some trips (Brazil, Colombia, Indonesia, New Zealand and Australia) and would like to learn something new and inspiring in these countries, which I would obviously share with my future hosts :) Something I really want to do is a course to become a yoga instructor in Bali :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Quentin Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs & Pulp Fiction, Amores Perros, Babel, Seven Pounds, Inception, Requiem for a Dream, Crash and some German movies like Soul Kitchen & Knockin' on Heaven's Door.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Borrowing a van to go on a road trip to Las Vegas with a friend of mine cruising through the deserts of Utah and Arizona. A Skydive in Plettenberg Bay/South Africa on a beautiful day when you could see dolphins in the sea. Getting to know beautiful Rio de Janeiro walking through the streets of Ipanema - great even though it was raining cats and dogs! :) Hiking a volcano in Ometepe, Nicaragua. Loved it :)

Teach, Learn, Share

When I couchsurfed in Ireland, our hosts asked us to cook some typical food of our country one night. As there was a girl from Corea and us from Germany that dinner was certainly a night to remember. :) I think that was a great idea of how you can be able to get to know a culture without leaving your own country. So if you want to surf my couch, it would be great if you could also teach me something typical for your country, be it a dish, a dance, your language etc. :)
