Overview
About Me
I was born in a northwestern city of China, which may be not familiar with many people, especially foreigners. But it is a very beautiful city with big mountains nearby and very famous glacier, I bet it is very worthwhile to make a trip to my hometown.
Now I am a full-year bachelor student in Hong Kong, which offers me an opportunity to see this world from a different point of view as Hong Kong is like a combination of Chinese and western culture and It really benefits be to learn something I have never been exposed to in mainland China.
This year I exchange in Netherlands, because I am eager to travel around Europe and have a deeper understanding of European cultures and lifestyle, which is very different from traditional Chinese culture and I find it very interesting.
As for my hobbies, I love cooking Chinese food and many friends of mine speak highly of the food I made so I will be willing to make you a Chinese meal if you want to have a try. Besides, I like watching tennis games, unfortunately, I am not very good at playing tennis lol.
I have been to many different countries in the past few years, such as Singapore, South Korea, Thailand and also some European countries. I really enjoy visiting different places and learning about how other people live, as well as tasting local food!
Just as the famous motto says:" Seize the day and take it all."
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
First, I want to learn new things. Travelling with a tour group will never give you an opportunity to learn the local culture from a local point of view. I remembered when I was in Rotterdam, which was the first couchsurfing experience for me, the host told me some stories of the Christmas traditions in Netherlands, and I learned that the Santa Claus is originated from Netherlands, not the Nordic countries. Therefore, I think it is not only interesting but also valuable to have a talk with local people about there culture, history, etc.
Second, I want to experience the local culture from the inside. Nothing’s really more authentic than an actual Dutch taking you around Amsterdam to all of his favorite places, telling you things about the city that only someone from that city would know. Whereas most people only get to dip a toe into another culture, Couchsurfing will give me an chance to dive in head first. I may not walk away knowing all the details of Dutch history and society, but I’ll come a way with a sense of what it’s like to walk around in the shoes of a Dutch, even if just for a few days. And that's why I want to join the couchsurfing.
Third, I want to make new friends. Life is like an adventure and you will never know what will happen next. From the culture exchange of couchsurfing, I expect to make friends from all over the world and that must be amazing.
Music, Movies, and Books
I like Korean-pop music and Cantonese songs as well as English pop songs.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
It must be the bungjee jump in the Verzasca dam of Switzerland with my friends!! This October my three friends and I went to the Verzasca dam to experience the bungjee jump which was shown in the movie "007". It is 220 meters high and when we stood at the highest point, all of us were nearly scared to death. After a few deep breaths, we finally jumped from the dam one by one and at that time I felt nothing but excited. I swore it was the most exciting thing I had ever done. When I fell down from the dam, I could only hear the wind and the sight of the valley was very beautiful. After a few re-bounds I was dragged back to the top of the dam and I really felt proud that I made it!
