Hello there, I'm Šimon.

I'm from Czechia, now based in Prague where I hope to live for the foreseeable future.

In the recent few years, I lived in England, where I studied sustainability, then in New Zealand, where I hiked the Te Araroa trail and ended up staying for a couple of months after I finished, then finally in Edinburgh to do a master's in narrative studies.

HOSTING

So far I've only been hosted by amazing Couchsurfing hosts during my various travels. As I now finally have a decent place that's not a student accommodation or a tent, I'd like to start giving back to the community and host people in the lovely Prague.

I have a smaller apartment with a separate living room that has a couch with good sleeping reviews from friends. In case of more people, I can also give an extra mattress on the floor. I'm located fairly centrally and am flexible on dates or durations of hosting depending on request.

Let me know what you expect and we'd take it from there. Always happy to do a vibe check over a video call as well, as I understand that I don't have that many reviews and this can be a bit unsettling especially for people new to Couchsurfing.

ABOUT ME

Since childhood I've been a part of an international youth-led non-profit organisation, eventually founding its Czech office. Together we empower young people and communities to fight for climate justice and restore forests.

I'm also a passionate in writing, and playing music: piano, guitar, ukulele and singing. I used to write poetry but maybe I've gotten too old for that now.

And obviously, I love to travel. Above everything I appreciate a good hike, forests, mountains or water.

Finally, I'm excited about the couchsurfing community, even though I've barely scratched the surface of what it can offer.

I want to experience the country I'm visiting and getting to know its people is an important part of it which doesn't happen in hotels. That's why I am on couchsurfing. And as I love to hear the stories of others, I'll be happy to host someone in the future too in the UK or in Czechia.

In 2022-23, I hiked the Te Araroa Trail, over 3000 km on foot across the length of New Zealand, took me 5,5 months and was an absolutely life-changing experience.
