About Me

I am a Maritime Canadian turned townhouse dweller currently filling my days delivering packages by bicycle and my nights learning French. I originally moved to Montreal for university but have since digressed.

Interests

I am pretty heavily involved in the local music scene in Montreal, albeit as more of a patron than musician. I enjoy biology and history and any topics branching from there. I do a lot of writing in my spare time, mostly short prose and poetry. Feminism, queer and DIY ethos. Hiking, minimal camping, and cycling occupy my outdoors time. I've spent the last three summers planting trees in western Canada but I'm trying to get out of the game. If you ask me or my roommates about planting trees be prepared to get a way larger earful than you probably wanted.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a big fan of German expressionism, Czech new wave, Canadian short film (the National Film Board of Canada defined my childhood) and some pop film.

I listen mostly to Canadian experimental music like Women, Chad VanGaalen, and Suuns, to name a few. I listen to some punk/ hardcore, like Ceremony, Deep Wound, Titus Andronicus, Parquet Courts.
Some other artists on heavy rotation: Colin Stetson, No Age, Cap'n Jazz, Deerhunter, Shabazz Palaces, Beach House, A Classic Education, Dirty Beaches, Infest, Gang Gang Dance.

Authors I've been particularly moved by: Margaret Atwood, Frantz Fanon, Salinger, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, and Alice Munro.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Last summer I did a 7000km hitchhiking trip from southern Alberta to Dawson City, Yukon and back. I was a little constrained for time so I ended up doing it in just under two weeks. It's amazing how tight the sense of community feels up north, despite the remoteness and how spread out the population is.

Teach, Learn, Share

I think I possess a pretty thorough knowledge of Montreal, including all of the nooks and crannies you only find when you wander around the city for countless summer nights.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Malta, Norway, Poland, Sweden, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
