About Me

CURRENT MISSION

As a jazz singer, musician, photographer, artist, actor, filmmaker, comedian and writer… I'm looking forward to experiencing interesting places, learning other languages and I'm excited about helping other people to practice and learn to speak better English.

ABOUT ME

I am a very soft spoken, friendly, creative, and respectful person who enjoys the company of people from other cultures. I am excited about learning French and also enjoy helping other people to speak English better if they wish. I am an easy-going person and a non-smoker, who enjoys great conversations, foods and experiences from all over. I'm looking forward to sharing my music with the world as well as making new friendships internationally (as I feel it brings our world closer together and helps us to understand each other).

PHILOSOPHY

I believe that life is to be experienced, enjoyed, and most importantly… To be shared! I believe that we are not islands meant to be by ourselves, rather… We are meant to be in families and groups with friends and relationships. As an artist I like creating my vision of life and sharing it with other people as I feel we all interpret life in many ways and it is fascinating to see the varieties of philosophies around the world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

As an entertainer I am used to meeting people and making friends… I feel it is important to have what I call a hands-on experience with people where you engage them in conversation, and enjoy their stories and tell stories of your own… Since the beginning of time this has always been the best way to teach and to learn and to experience.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have Couchsurfed continually for the last 7 years throughout Paris, Tokyo, Nice, Los Angeles, San Diego, Seattle, Portland, Denver and many many more great cities! I am considered a “Nomadic Couchsurfer” which means I surf the planet continuously. I understand there are only about a dozen or so of us in the world. WHAT AN ADVENTURE!! 😊👍 I have always enjoyed being at the center of a family from another culture and learning and experiencing how they see the world and they see their lives and sharing something about my own. Life is about experiencing, relating, enjoying, sharing, understanding, sympathizing, empathizing, and being engaged in one another's realities… I believe that couch surfing is not just about getting a free place to stay, it is really more of a cultural exchange and a way to bring the world closer together.

Interests

I love music, art, fashion, photography, history, cinema, wine, food, and making new friends. I also enjoy architecture, interesting restaurants ,art galleries, museums, parks and nature as well as cities and all of the excitement. I love the French language and have been trying to learn to speak it well for many years. I truly enjoy acting and have had the honor and privilege of having appeared in over 40 movies and television shows throughout my career. It’s so much fun!

Music, Movies, and Books

I really enjoy the cinema tremendously! Especially independent and creative, artistic films. I have been an actor and a writer in my life and both of my grown daughters are actresses in Los Angeles making movies and television shows. Some of the television shows that I have had the pleasure of appearing in are: Curb Your Enthusiasm, VEEP, The Good Place, Bones, Scandal, Silicon Valley, American Horror Story, Code Black, Transparent, Ray Donovan, NCIS:Los Angeles, Criminal Minds, Lethal Weapon, This Is Us, The Middle, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and many many more. You also may have seen me as The Shirtless Cowboy opposite actress Amy Adams in the new motion picture “VICE” (the story of Dick Cheney). Some of my favorite independent films are Amalie, Run Lola Run, My Life As A Dog, Swept Away (the original version not the remake), Being John Malkovich and Pulp Fiction to name a few. Regarding music, some of my favorite artists of course are Sinatra, Dean Martin, Nat King Cole, Bobby Darin, as well as James Taylor, Paul Simon, Steely Dan, Alexi Murdoch, Bob Dylan, Gipsy Kings, Josh Groban, Leonard Cohen, Sting, Rod Stewart, Willie Nelson, Édith Piaf, Georges Brassens and more!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have been blessed to have had the opportunity to experience many fantastic things in my life. But of course the most amazing part for me has been being a father and raising two beautiful young daughters… They are both very creative spirits and beautiful young women and I'm very proud of them. As a family we traveled the world performing an did over 2,000 live theater shows together. I believe that traveling on the road like that and experiencing new things every day was a wonderful way for them to grow up.

Teach, Learn, Share

Things that I feel I can contribute or share in an exchange with people from other cities and other cultures of course would be an aid in helping them with their English. As a musician and guitar player a I can certainly always help to teach a little bit about guitar and music as well as voice.. I also worked for Apple Computer for several years and have a pretty good knowledge of their workings and operating system I can always be helpful if someone has an Apple Computer. I am also quite a creative chef… And always enjoy cooking meals for friends… So bringing some of my unusual and creative recipes to fruition for a evening meal could be something I would contribute as well. Finally, if there is a guitar near by I am always happy to play and sing to help entertain my hosts and new friends. Music is a gift and one that should be shared.

Regarding learning, I would love to learn more about the city or town I am in, and the language of course, as well as the styles and customs. The art, music, cinema, architecture, history, and the way that people feel about life in general is always fascinating to me and enriches my life tremendously.
