ABOUT ME

I've had a bit of trouble representing this in the various forms I've filled out, so this seems to be a good place to explain things. I (Ethan Beal-Brown) Michael Eugenio, and Luc Frolet, are getting together to drive out to college on the west coast. We've not met in person together as of yet (that'll come one the 25th of June), but since we're all going to the same place, we figure it's a good way to get there. Hopefully, we'll each write something in these boxes here.

Ethan-
As for me specifically, I grew up in Bennington, Vermont, after moving from Ithaca NY in second grade. I've had a chance to do a bit of world traveling, and intend to do much, much more soon. I try to make my life a balance between peace and pursuit, and am currently in a more active period.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

This being my first interaction with couchsurfing, I can easily say that I have yet to participate. However, I am immensely pleased to have found this site now, in the beginning of a period during which I'll be doing a lot of traveling. It's very much a shame that I cannot offer a couch for the immediate future, but once I get a place of my own, or am traveling after college, I plan to make very good use of this marvelous community. What I've seen of the people here already (browsing through pages mostly) excites me. There is such great optimism coming from legions of interesting people. Surfing alongside someone, or offering up my couch for anyone defies the contention that strangers are somehow unapproachable or not to be trusted. From what I've learned of the world's people, I have a growing optimism myself, and am excited to explore. I think by perpetuating the same helpfulness and friendliness characteristic of this community, I can help it grow in some way.

Interests

Ethan-
I always feel silly and boring, filling in these things, as well as "favorite books / movies". Hm. I've done several sports in high school - XC skiing, running, soccer, tennis. I'm a great fan of the game Go, though I don't suppose many people outside of Europe and eastern Asia know it. I play guitar, as well as drums. I really enjoy spontaneity. I like anything that expands my understanding, essentially.
