Overview
About Me
Hey there! I recently graduated from medical school, which means I can officially call myself Dr. (though sometimes it still feels unreal). I’m ambitiously diving into the field of gynaecology and obstetrics and as a natural consequence, I’m currently a volunteer at a family planning and sexual health organization.
Back in the day, I was in a choir, a folk dance group, and a theatre club. I even gave the saxophone a whirl! Now, my creative pursuits involve geeking out over art history, visiting art galleries, creating artwork myself whenever inspiration strikes and breaking out spontaneous dance moves in my living room.
Nature is my ultimate playground, where you’ll find me hiking, trekking, biking, and birdwatching. I love pretending I'm in a nature documentary, and David Attenborough is narrating my every move.
In my downtime, you’ll find me cooking up a storm or buried in a good book, all while dreaming about my next adventure. After all, I firmly believe that if we were meant to stay in one place, we’d have roots instead of feet.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
If I hadn’t studied medicine, I’d likely be pursuing social anthropology because I’m so fascinated by different cultures. Couchsurfing allows me to experience places from a local’s perspective, savour authentic cuisine, and connect on a deeper level with the heart of each community. It’s all about discovering new places, making new friends, and immersing myself in the rich tapestry of diverse cultures. Through Couchsurfing, I blend my passion for travel with meaningful interactions and genuine experiences.

Music, Movies, and Books
MUSIC: I'm definitely off the mainstream when it comes to music. I can listen to various genres, from classical to indie pop and electronic music, though soul and jazz take a special place in my heart.
MOVIES: The Worst Person in the World, Fantastic Beasts (film series), Normal people; Conversations with Friends (TV series), Whiplash, The Intouchables, Goodbye First Love, Denial, 'Before' trilogy, Dead Poets Society, Perfect strangers (Perfetti sconosciuti), Worlds Apart, Colonia etc.
BOOKS: Women who Run with the Wolves, The Story of San Michele, The Storyteller, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Kafka on the Shore, Demian, The Secret Lives of Colours, Greek mythology, The Ocean at the End of the Lane, Harry Potter book series and other non-fiction linked to art history, architecture, personal growth, travelling and society.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Conquering solo the 192 km long "Peaks of the Balkans" trail in 11 days.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am keen on teaching the Latvian language and traditions, sharing food recipes and travel stories, conversing about art, architecture, music (especially jazz), literature, healthy/active/eco-friendly lifestyle, medicine, nature etc. Pretty much I can talk about anything because I'm an open-minded person ready to gain new knowledge from others.
