About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Discover my mission?

ABOUT ME
I'm pretty nice. Friendly. Ready to laugh, and I'm very curious about this world - about people and about places. When i'm exploring - I always have to see what's around the next bend. I've travelled a lot and studied a bit. I'm very easy going but every now and then I decide I really need to do something and then it's full steam ahead!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Mostly couch surfing in Europe - some through this website and a lot informally! My 'formal' experience has been in Italy and France. I've also used Workaway a lot - a great way to travel! If you haven't heard of it, it's a bit like Woofing but with more variety in experiences.

Interests

I love outdoor adventures - i'm pretty into rock climbing, bushwalking (hiking/tramping/trekking - whatever you want to call it), just got my dive card and am learning to surf too. I mean, I grew up in Tasmania, I can't help it! But I like other things too - I like to cook, listen to live music - I play a bit of Piano and I'm teaching myself guitar. Im really interested in sustainable building and how we can adapt to climate change - i studied this at uni and plan to start postgrad in sustainable architecture next year. I really like to read too, I just love stories
I'm vegetarian too. For environmental reasons.

Music, Movies, and Books

many, many, many!! At the moment: Music - Michael Kuwinaka, Benjamin Clementine, Tash Sultana, Sigur Ros, Alt-J, DD Dumbo, Glass Animals, Foxy Shazam, Margaret Glaspy, Sylvan Esso plus the oldies, some classical and since my parents are Irish I can't go past a bit of folk!
Books - currently reading the Hobbit. catch 22, oscar wilde plays, been reading george orwell lately. To be honest, if it's a good story i'll read it.
Movies/Tv SHows - Hmmm, Studio Ghibli movies are always a favourite, I like Stranger Things

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Volunteering for a disaster response organisation gave me amazing opportunities in Nepal and The Philippines - the people - volunteers and locals - were so inspiring and I learnt things like boat-building, demolishing un-safe buildings, typhoon and earthquake resistant building practices...also, to be cliché..how lucky I am.

Teach, Learn, Share

i know a little about a lot of things and not heaps about one thing. So we can talk about a lot! I can help teach you English - i did that in Spain for 5 weeks. Bring you climbing. Teach you how to make Irish soda bread how my mum makes it. Local travel tips for Tasmania. I'd be happy to learn about most things too.
