About Me

I do not want to exist or survive on this earth, nor live vicariously through others; I want to embrace it, to enjoy, appreciate and love life. I strive to fill my life with fun, laughter, love, adventure, exploration, enthusiasm, curiosity, learning, working, humorous silliness, games and activities. To be and live the change I would like to see, to embrace true richness, and hopefully positively contribute to life on earth where possible.

Forever an explorer excited about the journey, learning and appreciating. Free-spirited, spontaneous and intrepid; I am an adventurer, an explorer, a clown, singer and dancer. One always full of ideas and energy and open to the unknown and new. I love nature and being in the wilderness, there is always so much to learn and be be inspired by.

I have explored over 90 countries, much of the time heading for off-the-beaten-track locations, hitch-hiking, cycling, sailing, walking, chicken-buses and on, while meeting wonderful people, places and life. I lived, worked and fell in love with life in the Democratic Republic of Congo (Zaire) while living with local hunter-gatherers and helping habituate wild bonobos, and would love to return! I hitch-hiked/worked on yachts across the Atlantic, around the Caribbean, to the USA, south of Ushuai and more. I have spent a lot of time exploring and living in 'wild' places and am keen to do more. I invested in developing survival and self-sustainability skills and crafts, environmental and wildlife conservation/resilience, wildlife tracking, traditional and natural medicine, eco-builds, green-energy, studying Viktor Schauberger's work, anthropology (especially hunter-gatherers and alternative cultures)... I enjoy making things, feel at home in the wilderness, and love to eat wild food/medicine. My focus is to visit more hunter-gatherer tribes and make film to inspire thought and spirit. I am also a Doula/natural midwife and after years of practising yoga and soon to do a teaching course.

My old age was listed as 102, apparently CS doesn't believe a 102 year old could CS... I disagree ;) I divorced my age while in the Congo, still considering accepting it back but I bigger things to think about and do for now :) I'm 30-something

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I visit a place I like to meet and spend time with local people. CS is also great as one can find like-minded people to enjoy with. I met one of my best friends through CS, many good friends.

Interests

Dance is my passion (especially salsa, meringue, ballet...), and I aspire to do more circus/acrobatics, dance, adventure sports, sailing, paragliding and kayaking, caving, flying (especially aerobatics – hoping to get my pilots license to fulfil more dreams), and would love to try wind-surfing and kite-surfing. I enjoy the theatre (esp. musicals, ballet, opera), performance, music, comedy and anything dance related.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Living in the interior rainforest of the DR Congo alongside inspiring local hunter-gatherers and with the spectacular wild bonobos. I would walk/run/climb/crawl/wade/swim through the rain forest equipped with only a compass and hand draw map attempting to locate, track and research the 'elusive' bonobos
