About Me
子曰:有朋自遠方來,不亦樂乎?
The master (Confucius) said: To have friends coming from far away places, isn't that delightful?
Hi! I'm Christoph from Hamburg, Germany.
I was born in Hamburg and have lived there for most of my life, except for two years in Budapest and a year in a small town near Boston.
Since 2005 China has been my preferred destination, and I studied sinology at the university of Hamburg.
I have also studied in Beijing and worked in Shanghai and Guilin as well as traveled to many places all around China. There's still much to see for me there though, it's a huge country after all.
Now I'm starting my own travel business, tours to China for people 18-39, if you are interested in joining a tour or have any questions about traveling in China just ask me!
When I'm not traveling around China I like to explore other countries like Vietnam, South Korea or the Philippines. Closer to home I love to go skiing in Austria, or even closer go kayaking in Hamburg and the north eastern part of Germany.
I'm a big fan of movies from all over the world, not just the Hollywood ones. Definitely go check out some South Korean movies if you have the chance, movies like "Oldboy", "I saw the devil", "Brotherhood of war" or even "My sassy girl" are all awesome.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm on couchsurfing because I think it is a great concept to bring people and cultures together.
I have hosted quite a few people in Hamburg and most always had a great time.
I hope to do some more surfing in the future!
Interests
As mentioned above I'm a fan of movies, skiing, running and traveling in general.
I'm interested in politics and social issues and like discussing such things if I find someone else who does.
Because of this I like to keep up to date by reading (online) newspapers and magazines. I'm quite the fan of documentaries and non fiction literature as well.
And of course one of the reasons why I love being in China is the food... and the milk tea!

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: The Matrix movies, Star Wars, The Big Blue, Leon the Professional, Old Boy, Hero, Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War, Tropa de Elite 1 and 2, Documentaries and Nature stuff (like Planet Earth)
Music: Mostly rock and alternative, but also RnB and hip-hop, especially to party. Not a big fan of techno and the like.
Books: Ashamed to say that I'm not a big reader of books, I mostly read articles online, news and background stories and so on. My first and favorite book was (probably still is) Die Unendliche Geschichte/The Neverending Story by Michael Ende
