About Me

Hi there! I'm 26, Scottish, and graduated from Glasgow University in English Literature and Spanish. I've done a good bit of travelling over the last few years, my first big adventure was teaching English in Uganda in 2008, and during my time at uni I had a lot of other great experiences like hitch-hiking from London to Morocco, living in Costa Rica to learn Spanish, teaching English in Spain, and working in beautiful places like Tunisia. Last year I took a year-long adventure round the world to see New Zealand, Australia and some of Asia. One of my favourite things about travelling is really getting to know and understand a new place and new cultures. The world is so diverse, and exploring as much of it as possible has been definitive for me over the last few years.

Now I'm back working as a subtitler in Glasgow and doing my best to tick off a little more of Europe from my list.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Meeting people who live in the places I visit is a bit like taking a backstage tour; you meet fantastic, interesting, different, quirky, adventurous people and you see things and places you would never see otherwise. It really lets you get a proper perspective on your travels.

Interests

I love film and TV, writing, and getting creative. I also enjoy learning new languages and seeing new places. I'm a total foodie, so I'm also desperately trying to improve my cookery skills at the moment as, I'll be honest, they're unimpressive... The dream is to be a published author eventually.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favourite film and book has got to be Lord of the Rings, hands down. But I'm a big fan of British comedy film and TV (e.g Spaced, the IT Crowd, Black Books etc.) as well as science fiction/ fantasy. This also extends into my reading, but I'll pretty much read whatever I can get my hands on! At the moment I'm trying to broaden my horizons by reading only what I can get at book exchanges.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I fundraised for three years to sponsor a very lovely friend of mine through university in Uganda. She's studying Adult Education, so I'm ridiculously exicted to see all the amazing things she gives back to her community when she graduates!
