About Me

I lived in Austin for about 4 years - my ex asked me to join. I'm moving back to Austin for the Summer of 2015 to help her get relocated. I'm fairly certain she knows just about everyone in the community.
I own a webdev company, which allows me the freedom to roam. I plan on getting an apartment in Austin for a nice Summer break.
While it's in the past, I was a former A-List club promoter in NYC. So if you're into stories about hanging out with celebrities and models, I have a ton. But I'm fairly certain you're not.
I grew up in the South, and that's my base. Drugs? Been there, done that - not really into it unless it's a special occasion. Everyone smokes pot in Austin - I oddly get nothing out of it. So fine, I'll take a drag - but not my thing. If it's high end, I'll get goofy. If it's crap, it gives me a headache. But I'll never ask for it, or any other drug. Again, nothing against it - just in my past.
I goof around with "punk acoustic" - it's kinda cool what you can get out of an acoustic, finger-picking, then kick the button and slam the amp into overdrive. It's an insane wall of sound, thanks to the acoustic feedback.
But acid jazz is the BEST. I'm really into the blues - but acid jazz is just insane. It's a fucking awesome experience.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Initially, I'm moving back to Austin to find an apartment. But I hung out with the group when I was in Austin and met a ton of cool people.

But I had a severe concussion that left me with ZERO short term memory for the entire time (no kidding) I last lived in Austin. And apparently, I was drunk most of the time and a jerk? So my deepest apologies to anyone I may have ever offended - but my brain works again and I don't drink much anymore. So back to as "normal" as I get.
Also, if I did meet you, I obviously won't remember you because my mind was blanked out for 3 years. No excuses, but when doctors are telling you that you could drop dead of an aneurysm at any moment AND you can't remember anything - well my reaction was to basically stop giving a damn.
But again, ALL BETTER now :)

Interests

I play punk acoustic guitar, saxophone - I was formerly a professional writer, but that (eventually) didn't pay for shit. I genuinely enjoy observing people - to me, it's better than going to any comedy club. I can get a laugh out of just about any situation.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm not a big "fan". I don't see the point. I'd cross the street to shake hands with Willie - but that's about it. Dostoyevsky is dead - so no chance on that. But yeah, I'd be his annoying super-fan if he were still alive. He's a fucking genius. But I try not to read him too much, because I get into the characters, and it makes me physically ill.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Yes, this is horribly superficial and probably "not cool" - but I made out with Adrianna Lima at a Victoria's Secret after party in NYC. Not bragging - it was just insane. We started out dancing, then it just went from there. She was just insanely beautiful.
But it also makes me a bad person, because I had a wonderful fiancee at the time. She was just on my "list" - so I got the "okay" to make out with her :)
Yeah, I could mention something "deeper" - but fuck that, I made out with the most beautiful woman in the world. I grew up as the skinny dork in high school, so that was the shit. Sorry.
By the way, did I mention - I made out with Adrianna Lima!!!! I'm such a dork.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach? Uhm... nobody's special or everyone is special. I prefer nobody, because then everyone is constantly trying to prove how special they are. And that's annoying as hell.
Learn? I'm pretty much open to cool new experiences.
Share... If you believe yourself to be special, then express it through your art. I suppose everyone's a bit pretentious - but there's a point where "attitude" just gets annoying.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I really love to laugh - that's my "high". Also, if someone is being kind enough to put me up or invite me somewhere, I just inherently feel it necessary to treat them as well. Or, if they're busy and just wish to be left alone, I can usually sense that.
If nothing else, I'm extremely empathetic - and it's not because I "care" so much. It's just part of who I am. And it's not fake, either.
I just really hate confrontation and tension, as it rarely ends well.

Countries I’ve Lived In
