About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I am a PhD researcher in Geography from Australia - Human Geography and Spatial Scientist, and living in LA right now. Traveling around +60 countries in the world, I aim for my lifetime mission of conducting geographic studies, educating geographic knowledge and empowering people with geographic thinking. Welcome to visit my personal website about my research, photography, documentary films, and travel at: www.sisiwalkingaway.blog
CURRENT HOSTING RULES (For FEMALE ONLY)
After living in Australia for 8 years, and finishing my research fellowship in Tokyo, Japan from Apr 2022 to Mar 2023, I took four months in UK and EU countries for my sabbatical leave from Apr 2023 to Jul 2023. Since Aug 2023, I moved back to LA where I left 12 years ago for a new faculty position so I am living in Downtown LA right now with a convenient location and accessible via public transit (metro yellow line). I rent a studio in an apartment complex so I only have the capacity to host FEMALE travellers given you have to share the space with me. Other rules of the hosting please see below:
Gender: female
Preferable hosting nights/days: 1-3 days (3 as maximum)
Availability: the building is gated and I only have one fob to get in so you have to come back when I am at home and I usually work 9-5.
Expectation to couchsurfers: with an interesting spirit to share stories; clean, neat and organized; no party no noise; I am a spiritual person, doing Yoga meditation everyday - if you share some common with me, it will increase the chance to be hosted.
Diery tips: I am a vegan - you are free to use the kitchen but please do not cook meat, eggs and diary products (but you can buy from outside and eat here).
ABOUT ME
Hi, It is Sisi Wang. I am a professional geographer, a vegetarian marathon runner/body builder, documentary film maker, and a Yoga fan with +15 years learning. I got my Ph.D from Uni of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia. I always hold the belief that it is good to read about things but it is better to go on walks. I did a trans-China excursion along the ancient Silk Road in 2006. Since then I traveled thought most of the countries in Southeast Asia, trans-U.S. trip through North America and Central America, and travelled intensively to all the 48 states in US mainland. The time like most is the 100 days volunteering in Hawaii.
I did the series documentary film "Vote for Vegetarians" in Taiwan, Tibet, Nepal, India, and Sri Lanca in 2014.
The vegetarian micro-film I made for Taiwan could be found here: http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XNzM2MDI4NDU2.html
The second one "Vote for Vegetarians - Voice of Pan-HIMALAYA" could be found here: http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XODU1MjYzOTU2.html
PHILOSOPHY
Reading is important but not that much as walking.
