ABOUT ME

Hi there. I'm Sitji, and I was born and raised in Vancouver, Canada. I work as a freelance animator and illustrator. I really love meeting new people but sometimes I can come off as quiet or awkward but I'm just listening! Also, I think my brain goes a lot faster than my mouth so sometimes my words mash into each other. I love watching animation and can spend a lot of time on the internet. This description makes me sound like a house troll but I love socializing!

I suppose my philosophy is try and be a good person, and to live a life that I'm proud of.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I just joined couchsurfing, so I haven't really participated at all yet. A few friends of mine have used this site with great success and I think it's something I would enjoy trying! I'm unable to host at the moment but will probably be able to later on in the year!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None! Except for when I stayed on a friend's couch in Munich, but that wasn't through this website.

Interests

I love meeting new people and listening to their stories. Traveling and art are both really important to me as well. I also love baking and I have a lot of baking theory and facts in my back pocket, but I don't put them to practice as much as I'd like. I also love finding awesome knick knacks and things at flea markets and thrift stores. Most importantly, I love dogs and cats and dream of the day I can own an apartment full of them.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm currently reading Wind-up Bird Chronicles by Murakami, and next on my list is Love in the Time of Cholera by Márquez. I had a phase where I read Russian classics, and would say I enjoyed Nabokov and Dostoyevsky the best. My favourite movie is Dancer in the Dark but I find it really difficult to watch. I haven't been keeping up with music so much, but Future Islands, Beach House, and Bjork are some of my favourites.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think the thing that I constantly find amazing is the general kindness most people display when you're traveling through their city. In terms of sight-seeing, driving down the West Coast to Disneyland in Anaheim was one of the best trips I've been on.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you things about art and animation if you're curious about it. Painting and drawing are in my blood so we could have little craft parties or something! I would love to learn your story or the history of the places I'm visiting. Or if you love to bake as well, maybe you can give me tips and share recipes!
