About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To investigate the crevices between expression, emotion, and experience...to remember to get lost in the white sand and snow more often than the white pages of my books!!
ABOUT ME
I'm a wanderlusting juggler of the worlds of the mind, the page, and the heart that lubricates the swirl with a musical montage. This may be my first attempt to present a lyrical snapshot of myself in a white box and I want you to know that I love life, have an insatiable appetite for new experiences, and will never be able to collect enough beautiful conversations to reach a point of overflow. I live to move and life moves me. I can only hope that I never come to a point where I feel the world is moving around me, I always hope to be moving around the world.
PHILOSOPHY
Move around the world, don't let it move around you.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Its refreshing to be part of a network that exists to create real human connections, not just superficial shout outs between distant amigos. I plan to offer up a couch wherever I roam and reciprocate generously when I am on the global prowl. Can I sing you a song?
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I am still happy to say that every couchsurfing experience: from organizing concerts in Cape Town, South Africa to meeting great new friends in Puerto Rico has been enriching and fantastic! Message boards are a fantastic way to catch the vibe of a place and facilitate meetings of folks!!
Interests
I'm enamored with music. It is how I relate to my world and to the universe. Its the pull that moves me forward and takes me back. I love things that are beautiful. I love people. I love people who are willing to share themselves, even if for brief moments. I love smiling. I love indirect moments that yield depths of understanding and connection with unexpected individuals. I love expression, and avidly seek to create and consume it.

Music, Movies, and Books
Anything by Jack Kerouac, Kurt Vonnegut, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, To Kill a Mockingbird, Confessions of an Economic Hitman, Thoreau, Lord Byron, Michel Foucault, Pierre Bourdieu. I love me some educational philosophy and pedagogical theorizing from the likes of Paulo Freire, Michael Apple, Henry Giroux, and many more. So many amazing words from remarkable people to encounter and infuse - after critical reflection of course!
It pains my brain to think about how to summarize the music that lubricates my life...I love eclecticism (in all forms) and have recently gravitated towards groups like Alash Ensemble, Farmers Market, Gogol Bordello, Django Reinhardt, Charlie Christian, Wagner Pa, Toumani Diabate, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, John McCloughlin, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Mastodon, Joao Gilberto, Arapaho Nation, Northern Cree, Janis Joplin, Kaki King, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Immortal Technique, Sage Francis, Mississippi John Hurt, Neil Young, Tower of Power, John Coltrane, Stravinsky, David Fiucynski and the Screaming Headless Torsos, the Beatles, Joni Mitchell, Son House, Tiken Jah Fakoly, Queen Ifrica, Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Johnny Cash, Burning Spear, Cultura Profetica, A Tribe Called Quest, NOFX, Operation Ivy, Rage Against the Machine, K-OS, Bob Dylan, Old Crow Medicine Show, Brian Wilson, the Beach Boys, Joan Baez, Carole King, Marvin Gaye, Medeski Martin and Wood, Jaco Pastorius, Miles Davis....yargh!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Being part of a spontaneous dance party at 6am in the middle of a fruit market in Swaziland. I was strummin along on the guitar, sitting on the back of the bus, when people started requesting upbeat music...before long there was a crowd of us singing, dancing, laughing, and improvising sweet music! Nothing can compare to the beauty of spontaneous acts of unity and community!
Teach, Learn, Share
I would love to share knowledge about music, perhaps exchange songs on the guitar or any other instrument! I love to talk about history (my undergraduate major), particularly Native American history, and the histories of indigenous peoples around the globe. I'm currently studying Anthropology and love to talk about education - policy, institutions, pedagogy, etc. The question, though, is what can we learn together!?
