About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To be patient.
ABOUT ME
My dad was a sailor-traveller, introducing us kids to maps, charts and travel talk from early. My mum's mum was Brazilian and lived with us when i was very little, but, sadly, we did not learn Portuguese.
I was born during WW2 and feel i have lived through very interesting times. I spent a year travelling alone in South America from 1995-6, mostly Brazil, inc. 3 months in the Amazon. My Gran came from Manaus. In 2006 I spent 3 months in Mexico, mostly Chiapas. I came to live in Spain to be close to my family who were living here.
PHILOSOPHY
To live thoughtfully. To understand and feel the connection we have with all of life, and respect all life. Keep working at the contradictions!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
So far all my couchsurfing experiences have been interesting and positive. I have only surfed once, in Uruguay, but hope to do more when there is an opportunity. I have had several guests, which has been great for me since my house is so "off the beaten track".
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I stayed with many people during my journey in South America 95-96, none of whom I knew from elsewhere; friends of friends, a cousin, and people i just met. They gave me some of the best experiences, and several have become very good friends. I have also now started to meet people from this project, which is wonderful.
Interests
Deep ecology, permaculture, Earth spirituality, family and friendship, poetry, travel, political activism, music, cooking etc. When I recently spent 3 months in South America again with a friend we wrote a blog. It is: www.wandersouth.blogspot.com

Music, Movies, and Books
I don't see many films, but appreciate a good storyline and cinematography. In music my taste is pretty widespread, but I have a special love of jazz and classical piano. Victor Jara had the most beautiful voice ever. I read continuously anything which comes my way. A book I would recommend is: One No, Many Yeses (a journey to the heart of the global resistance movement) by Paul Kingsnorth.
Teach, Learn, Share
I have 66 years of life with many experiences and am happy to share, and always to learn. I studied philosophy and economic history a long time ago, and then trained in teaching. I taught in London, where I also did community work on municipal housing estates. I worked in Bristol in a single parent organisation for many years, mostly as project evaluator. I have brought up a family of 4 and now have 7 grandchildren who are a great joy. I am also qualified in Reflexology.
