Overview
About Me
Intuitive, bubbly, analytical, witty extrovert! Enjoy meeting new people to exchange stories and to have meaningful conversations with a bit humor and philosophy tied into the mix! I'm originally from New Orleans and its nearby region but have also lived in Atlanta, Washington, D.C., Baltimore, and cities in India, Ghana, Ecuador, Haiti, and England for various periods of time. I really enjoy trying new things and working alongside others to collaborate on creative project and to bring social justice to bear through policy and artistic activism. Always open to an interesting, even controversial, debate over a cup of tea!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm on Couchsurfing to forge bonds with diverse groups of people and to experience local cultures more fully when I have the opportunity to travel for work or leisure. When I can, I am also happy to host fellow travelers, showing them openness and kindness in their journeys.
Interests
I got into genetic epidemiology and health policy after being more invested in infectious disease epidemiology and public health studies more broadly. During my undergraduate studies, I focused on sociology and biology but took courses in a variety of subjects across the natural and social sciences. I plan to undergo clinical medical training after wrapping up some policy projects.
I enjoy perfumery design for the sake of storytelling and art, Crossfit training, some yoga and dance (having previously been very invested in many modes of dance), cooking most types of cuisine, baking to some degree, biking, kayaking, hiking and camping, listening to a variety of music, analyzing films, playing board games, going to nerdy themed events, solving puzzles and scavenger hunts, attending ballets and comedy shows and musicals, and having picnics in parks. I love my Tabby cat and reading books over a bubble bath. A good bit of my free time goes towards service-based activities through my faith community, as I am passionate about the Baha'i Faith and putting its principles of social justice and equality and critical inquiry into action.
