About Me

ABOUT ME

Grew up in South Jersey. Did four years in Boston for undergrad. Came out to LA for grad school, and stayed since.

I'm pretty easy going (to the point of being indecisive) and down to earth. Love being exposed to new things and constantly learning. As I travel, I'm realizing as much as I like the touristy things, I have the "local" mentality - I like to be in good company and do what the locals do. (I also do not have much to spend so just seeing things from a far / quick walking tour, is best rather than spend money at tourist spots)

Here's my Facebook: David W. Lee

PHILOSOPHY

"Why not?" Always open to new adventures and experiences!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've couchsurfed my way across the country and couchsurfed in the LA area until I moved into my new apartment. I plan on continuing to be active by hosting and attending events

**Go to CS Events. Best time ever, met some awesome people and made great connections. If you haven't gone to an event yet, DO IT

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

~2012 Europe Trip: Paris, France; Barcelona, Spain; Berlin, Germany; Amsterdam, Netherlands; Cologne, Germany; Brussels, Belgium; London, UK; Reykjavik, Iceland.

~I guess I've been couchsurfing for a while but thru knowing people. I've had my aussie friends crash at my place before I found this website.

~Stayed with people in OH, IL, MO, NE, CO, UT, NV, CA during my cross-country move.

~Camped with the CouchBurners Camp during Burning Man 2014

~2015 Pacific Northwest Summer Trip: Seattle, WA; Vancouver, BC; Portland, OR; San Francisco, CA

Interests

Music, Yoga, Running/Jogging (I run in Vibrams, and just ran a half-marathon I them!), Hiking (just did my first summit: Cucamonga Peak here in SoCal), Cooking, Being outdoors, Exploring, Biking (biked everywhere in Boston), Driving - I find it very theraputic (Even though it's not as green as I want it to be)

I'm a big Foodie. I like eating different types of food. I enjoy 'abusing' my body by eating the hottest thing on the menu. I think 'sweet and savory' is one of my taste combos. I like different types of wine, beer and spirits. Yea, I like food.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: I have a decent collection, but I've missed out on many recent ones in the past few years. Big Marvel fan, so I'll watch anything comic-book related.

Music: Pretty much everything.

Books: I'm a musician, I only read music. JK. Don't have a book I'm reading at the moment - I'm open to suggestions.

TV: 30 Rock, Simpsons, Family Guy, Food Network, Game of Thrones, Modern Family, RuPaul's Drag Race (guilty pleasure). I wind down watching episodes online while eating dinner.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I lived and worked in a pub in London for a summer

Teach, Learn, Share

Teaching is my life. I've worked at the Apple Store as a trainer, and now I am a Highschool Band Director. My personal and professional teaching philosophy = the day I stop learning will be the day I stop teaching.
