About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To help people. Not a mission, but a passion.

ABOUT ME

A nice guy if I may say so myself :)

I love thinking about how our current world system works, and how we can change it. I think we can solve the problems of our days. Economic crises, world famine, war, disease etc. can seem overwhelming and too big to handle. But I think it's like Einstein said:

"If you think it's impossible, you are right. If you think it's possible, you are also right." (Not sure if Einstein really said that. Sounds good either way ;)

So I study political science, trying to figure out how we can make a change in this world. In addition to my studies, I have worked in the boards of several student organization, one of which is the local student union. These jobs have been very educational for me.

I am kind of a health and effectiveness freak. I eat healthy and mostly vegetarian food. Every night I sleep about 8 hrs. By practicing tai chi, yoga, boxing, kickboxing and MMA I try to keep in shape. I love time-management and I probably love my agenda to an unnatural extent ^^ I meditate twice a day, I hardly ever drink alcohol...

... and now you think I am boring. And that´s true, at some length :D So do I have any fun at all?

Hyeess! Of course I do. I play guitar and bluesharp, and I jam with my younger brother. I hang out at the park with friends. And every year I go hitchhiking to my friends in the rest of Europe.

Also, a few years ago I started working on a project with orphans in Bulgaria. Now I don´t work on the project anymore, but I still visit the kids every year. They are a source of inspiration for me. I think they show me how good life can be if you just be yourself and care about others. OMG, that sounds cheesy. Still, it´s true.

PHILOSOPHY

Pick any quote by the Dalai Lama. I´ll probably agree.

Oh wait, I have something better. Someone once imagined paradise like a big restaurant. In this restaurant, everyone worked together to make a great evening. The chefs cooked the food, the carpenters made beautiful chairs and tables and the musicians played their music. When the food was ready, everyone sat down together to eat. All were welcome to enjoy the evening.

So this is kind of what I want to make of this world. When all the wars, diseases and disputes are finally over, we can just sit down and relax together. Have some food, play some music, talk a bit.

So let's make this happen. "We just keep on walking on the road to Zion." (I love Damian Marley)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Woohoo, finally got place to host! Good people of the world, you are welcomed!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Did a lot of hitchhiking, off-line couchsurfing gave me the best and craziest experiences. But now the year is 2013 and it's time to go online.

Interests

Blues. I like most of the well-known blues artists. Eric Clapton, Muddy Waters, Son House, Leadbelly, Joe Bonamassa, Robert Johnson, White Stripes, you name it. And of course the Blues Brothers, I cannot overstate their greatness.

Furthermore, I like to think about power and politics. It´s so interesting to see how our system of states and corporations makes life miserable for so many people. This system is so complex, to understand it is a huge challenge for me.

And last but not least, I love martial arts. When I was young, I started out with judo. As I got older, full-contact sports such as boxing, kickboxing and MMA caught my attention. I still practice these sports often, but my focus has shifted to more subtle styles, such as tai chi and yoga.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:
My favorite album is Gorillaz- Demon Days. Huge fan.

Nas & Damian Marley - Distant Relatives is also awesome.

"Walk the narrow pavement /
and speak of love, not hatred."

Books & poetry:
Terry Pratchett is king. I also like Enlish poetry, such as Sassoon and Shakespear. But I'm not that intellectual, I hardly ever read literature.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I saw a group of birds fly over the houses in my neighbourhood. I lived on the 10th floor. I could watch the birds from fly from above, it was awesome.

A Pearl Jam concert in my hometown. So much love, no words to describe it.

Dancing on top of a car at a French toll house. I was hitchhiking with two friends, and David, a Hungarian, piked us up. We had to wait at the toll house, it was 2.00 am. David started playing a Guns 'n Roses album, he turned the volume to maximum and invited us to dance on top of his car. We danced like madmen until we could move up to the toll house. It was a good night.
