Hey, my name is Sjoerd (yeah, good luck trying to pronounce that)!
I grew up in the Netherlands and I am currently enjoying my life as a student in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Because of my studies in design I really got to appreciate everything that is related to creativity, be it art, design, music, film, cooking, dance. Everything that requires skill and a person creating something.

In my free time I try to practice different sports. I get a kick from practicing gymnastic exercises like handstands, backflips and everything that looks impossible to do. During the winter time I also like to go on snowboarding and skiing trips. In the past I have done parkour, survival training as well as football.

I try to live by the day and my experience tells me that spontaneous actions are the best ones, so I do my best to keep an open attitude!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I moved abroad I took on a more pro-active attitude in discovering things that are new to me. Through CS I hope to continue to do this by meeting new people from different cultures, sharing stories and going out on adventures.

I got introduced to CS through my flatmate who has been around on couchsurf for quite a while. Over the past year we have hosted guests at our place from time to time, which has been an amazing experience. Unfortunately he is moving out soon, so now I would like to take over his role and become a host myself!

Music: very much depends on the mood i'm in, but overall I like more chill music with influences from jazz and hiphop. Artists include: Bonobo, Nujabes, Chet Faker, Massive Attack..

Movies: I am a fan of Tarantino movies!
