About Me

Nowadays I'm back home in my hometown. I Started to work after one year of traveling through Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia. I started my trip in March 2014.. It's one of the things I wanted to do, finally "once in a lifetime" opportunity. And like it a lot!

I traveled in Australia with my own car. I hitchhike in New Zealand and I partied in Asia.

For this opportunity, I had to quit my job. I was an engineer optical fiber for a living. I worked there for two years. Before that I studied: Urban Design.

But of course, I traveled to many places before. 18 countries in (mostly Western) Europe. But also Cuba, Carlifornia, Egypte, Greece, Turkey, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Thailand.

PHILOSOPHY

I never really thought about personal philosophy. I find the following interested:
"a dream without action remains forever a dream '
it ensures that you are pursuing something you want, traveling in my case.

"Your future is shorter if you wait longer"
therefore no longer waiting. I wanted to travel and finaly I did, so take action.

"if you live for tomorrow you're gonna lose your future"
life without planning is often very relaxing. what happened, happened ...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I love to get inside information off a city / town you are visiting. couchsurfing allows you to travel around and meet new people. You can share experiences and learn new cultures / habit.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

When I was traveling, I traveled with Japanese, Germans, French, Italians, Danes, Australians, British, Austrians, Brazilians, Argentinians, Swiss, Mexicans, Estonian and many more...
I stayed at many places with wonderfull and helpfull people. When I had problems with my car in Australia, a guy from CS helped me out. He called for exemple the car dealer and insurance. CS'ers in New Zealand helped me to give some advice to book tours or hikes.

But I stayed with so many more people than only CS'ers. I met Australians in Queensland on my journey where I could stay, I met people of a community in Sydney. Met a Maori-family where I could stay after my hitchhike trip.

Interests

active things like sports (running / mountainbike). I can enjoy nature with beautiful landscapes. At the same time I also love cities with impressive skylines, architecture. In cities, I'm often on a square and just watch what happens.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like many of movies. It is with humor, for an evening. But movies with a deeper meaning as "inception". In addition, films remain as 'The Shawshank Redemption' and 'Se7en' and 'the green mile' good movies. In the Netherlands I often had movie nights. I also follow series like 'revolution', 'Prison Break', 'Dexter' and 'big bang theory'. What I like is less is horror and sfi-fiction.

I love music of the '60 / '70 / '80 / '90 Pop music. If I go to (music) festivals in the Netherlands are going to house / electo and alternative / sing-song writers.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Las Vegas and area as Grand Canyon. Outback of Australia and beaches. A flat country as the Netherlands (Amsterdam). Asia and Kandy (Sri Lanka Perahera) Chang Mai (Thailand elephants) Hanoi and Saigon (Vietnam). In Europe it is Berlin and Rome.
