ABOUT ME
Hey there! My name is Marcel, I come from Tarragona (Catalonia/ Spain) but since January 2016 i moved into Germany, after living for a year in Vorpommern and also close to Hamburg, I live right now in East Berlin.
I think I am an open-minded guy, funny, responsible and respectful.
MY PHILOSOPHY
"History repeats itself, first as tragedy, second as a farce" - K. Marx
"Honesty and transparency make you vulnerable. Be honest and transparent anyway." - Mother Teresa
"If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor." - Desmond Tutu
"Until lions have their historians, tales of the hunt shall always glorify the hunter" - African proverb
"Plans are worthless, but planning is everything"
as more books, more doubts: Bertolt Brecht, Zygmunt Bauman, George Orwell, Nietzsche...
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Couchsurfing is a good way to meet abroad lots of people who may share your interests and, at the same time, to have a deeper view of the place you visit.
Interests
I got a Bachelor Degree in History in Barcelona (Catalonia) because I love, not only history but, at the same time, philosophy and art.
I also like discovering new cultures, learning new languages, talking about politics and drinking new kinds of beer.

Music, Movies, and Books
I really love listening to music specially ska, reggae, rock, punk and rap, but at the same time I listen bands like Bruce Springsteen, The Doors, Pink Floyd, Lou Reed...
Movies: Studio Ghibli, Ken Loach, Tarantino... "Walz with Bashir", "Fight Club", "Sin City", "The edukators"
Documentaries: Zeitgeist, The Shock doctrine, The corporation...
Some of my favourite books are: "Homage to Catalonia" by George Orwell, "The Hobbit" by JRR Tolkien, "HHhH" by Laurent Binet, "Candide, ou l'Optimisme" by Voltaire, "The Art of War" by Sun- Tsu...
But first of all, every book about History (specially about german history or 16th-17th centuries).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I spent 15 days in an Interrail travel through Germany in 2010, I fell in love with that country. And since January 2016 I live in Germany (right now in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and next June I will live close to Hamburg).
Another wonderfull experience was in 2014 when I went to Normandy, for 10 days alone, due to the 70th D-Day commemorations (and that was my first couchsurfing experience).
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach Spanish language and ,if you wanted, Catalan too. Also I can teach History, Art, and a little of philosophy.
I like to make wooden handifrafts and to use a loom to weave woollen ribbons like in the Middle Ages (I learnt that in the Slavic Museum in which I do a volunteering)
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can help the host/s in whatever he/she/they need; cook, clean, go grossery shopping...
Countries I’ve Visited
