Overview
About Me
From the east coast originally, and have been living in Washington state for the last 6 years. I'm a seasonal wildland firefighter with the Forest Service - which means summers of busy work and winters free to go wherever I want. Currently driving from WA to MD to get home for Thanksgiving!
I love being outside, hiking in gorgeous mountains, spending time with good friends, food, and music. Some of my favorite things: cozy winter days with many pots of tea, challenging myself beyond limits I thought I had, singing around a fire, writing letters, expanding my knowledge of the world, and a good laugh.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To connect with people in all sorts of places, learn from local residents about their towns, and broaden my understanding of the world! I love sharing a delicious meal with friends, new and old.
Interests
I love spending time outside, whether that be hiking through forests, mountains, beaches, or deserts, canoeing around lakes, cross-country skiing and snow-shoeing, getting up early for a sunrise, camping in beautiful spots, swimming in glacial lakes... being outdoors is where I feel most at peace and present.
I'm interested in fire ecology and environmental science - studying climate change and how to respond to the ever-increasing natural disasters in our world.
I love folk music and dancing, exchanging songs and tunes and games, eating local and living based on values.

Music, Movies, and Books
Folk music - American, Irish, English, Appalachian, French, all of it. Ari & Mia Friedman, Joni Mitchell, Tallest Man on Earth, The Devil Makes Three, Topette!, and all of the (mostly contra dance) bands that my friends play in.
Books: Animal, Vegetable, Miracle (and everything by Barbara Kingsolver), Mary Oliver poems, Brené Brown
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Rode in a helicopter 20 miles up the Elwha River in Olympic National Park (WA, USA) to monitor and control a wildland fire.
Biked 200km and 7200 meters around the Gorges du Verdon, France!
What I Can Share with Hosts
Delicious home cooked meals, a warm, friendly disposition, singing and music playing, a handmade cribbage board and board/card games, stories from my travels.
