About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To create, inspire, and make this life amazing.

ABOUT ME

I'm an energetic, driven, positive, and nerdy guy who loves live music, festivals, and cons of all kinds. I thrive on composing and performing music, dance, design, and travel. I also love pizza, photography, mountains, microbrews, rivers, economics, vintage video games, rain, documentaries, bike-rides, forest trails, sunshine, taking walks, DIY anything, philosophy, and hugs.

This is what I love to do most:

PHILOSOPHY

I have one life to make the best of through creating and inspiring. I strive to be open, honest, curious, and have mutually beneficial relationships with other people around the world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I love hanging out with other CSers wherever I'm at. I've met some awesome people at CS meet-ups while living in and traveling through other countries. I really enjoy hanging with CSers in their city, having the opportunity to dig in to the depth of a place and its culture. I also love showing folks around wherever it is that I'm calling home at any given time.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

CouchSurfers are a special breed and almost always enjoyable to be around. While I've met a handful of CouchSurfers in my homeland of the Pacific Northwestern United States, my most amazing experiences have been with those I've met in various parts of Europe, Japan, or the CS community in Chiang Mai, Thailand. :-)

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:
Progressive rock, EDM, jazz, djent, downtempo, prog metal, world, and anything with emotive melodies. Some favorites are TesseracT, Plini, Rishloo, Ella Fitzgerald, Jim Croce, Mother Mother, Cloud Cult, A Perfect Circle, Tracy Chapman, America, Chet Baker, Nickel Creek...

Films:
Miyazaki, V for Vendetta, Serenity, Eternal Sunshine..., Requiem for a Dream, Shawshank Redemption, What Dreams May Come... you get the gist. I also dig any Muppet movie or legendary 80s/90s film, especially Labyrinth, The Goonies, The Sandlot, The Neverending Story, & The Princess Bride. Scott Pilgrim was rad, too, and Indie Game: The Movie hits way too close to home.

Art:
M.C. Escher is my all-time fave. I also enjoy pop-art, surrealism, and other modern art. Some favorites include Dali, Picasso, Van Gogh, Duchamp, Warhol, Haring, Mondrian, Pollock, Toulouse-Lautrec, & Rothko. Museum trips are an all-day activity for me.

Books:
I mostly read non-fiction books and articles, specifically those about economics, philosophy, game audio, psychology, parenting, history, science, voluntarism, and self-knowledge. A few favorite authors include Carl Sagan, Richard Dawkins, Ray Bradbury, George Orwell, Thomas Woods, & H.G. Wells.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was a teenager, I did a one-day, fifty-mile hike. It was a challenge, but I'm glad I did it; looking back on it reminds me that I'm capable of great things if I go for it. Being on that trek also allowed me to be still and observe nature. With all distractions removed, I realized how in-tune I can become with everything around me.

Teach, Learn, Share

One of the greatest learning experiences I've had was when I traveled to China with my younger brother as each of our first trips ever out of the US. I learned that I absolutely love traveling and that if I hadn't just gone out and done it, I would always wondered what my life could have been like if I had. Since then I've backpacked through western Europe, and I've spent a couple years living and traveling in China, Thailand, and Japan.

I'm also a musician, actor, and dancer, and I love to perform for others and teach those who are interested. If you have a guitar, mandolin, piano, or you like to sing, I always invite a jam session! And if you want to dance it up, let's get on the dance floor (or living room floor)!

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Canada, China, Colombia, France, Germany, Japan, Laos, Myanmar, Netherlands, Thailand
