About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To increase my popularity and profit financially from it.

ABOUT ME

Right now I'm working as a receptionist at a hotel.
I don't really like describing myself this way because when I try to figure out what I'm like, I end up feeling like I could be said to belong to either extreme of any parameter. Which makes saying anything tangible quite challenging. But let's say that people often describe me as a bit weird, but the same people seem to like me anyway. I'm hoping they don't mean weird in a bad way. Other than that, easy going, up for almost anything, love to laugh and making people laugh, but I also enjoy deep discussions ( it's that duality again ).

PHILOSOPHY

Ooh, a tough one. I actually have one, though. I've spent a lot of time thinking it over, it has to do with truth and how we perceive it, but so far I've not really been able to put it into words. I'll make a lengthy blog-entry about it some day and link to it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm just starting out as a full fledged couch surfer now. I've recently moved so I live alone again. My ex-flatmate was the one who introduced me to couchsurfing and now I'll do it my own as it has been at lot of fun and I've met some truly amazing people so far.
When I have the time, I like to show people around (I'm getting pretty good at it and it's fun because you get to see your city with fresh eyes). And couchsurfing doesn't make sense to me if you don't take time to meet the people staying on your couch.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

A lot of the couchsurfing experiences I've had, has come through my aforementioned flatmate, who also first introduced me to the concept/web page. I've had only good experiences with this so far as have all the people I've met. I absolutely loath cheesiness, but couchsurfing is one of only a few things that helps restore some hope for mankind, don't you think? I've loved experiencing couchsurfers who've come back, who stayed for almost a week, groups who filled our floor space and those who you just clicked with as soon as they came in the door.
Personally, I prefer those where I've had time to show people around town and/or when people have wanted me to. I just think it's more fun when you get to hang out a bit and get to know each other a little. Even though I've met almost exclusively Europeans, I still think the biggest kick is meeting people from a different culture.

Interests

Music. Music is probably my main hobby/obsession/hang up. I suppose I should leave going into details for the appropriate field. I'll do that then.
Other than that ( in no particular order)cooking, football (soccer), reading, watching movies ( yada, yada, who doesn't? ), going out for coffee, playing pool, billiards and/or dice, drinking, concerts, assorted outlets of creativity that require little or no skill.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I don't feel like writing the list. I'll just say that I like rock, often the noisy kind, but it just needs to do something different, have some sort of edge to it.

Books: Two of my favorite authors are Haruki Murakami and Hunter S. Thompson. Catch-22 by Joseph Heller also comes to mind.

Movies: Grindhouse. I'm thinking of the Tarantino/Rodriguez collaboration here. Who needs a plot when you have so much style? I've always had weakness for zombie movies anyway.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Lava and snow within 10 minutes. Iceland is awesome!

Teach, Learn, Share

Cooking! Not so much teaching, but it could be a lot of fun to have people to teach me some their native cuisine. The idea has come up almost every time someone's been here and never really been realized, but it could be so cool to make it a tradition.
