At Tan Son Nhat airport, you should not buy simcard or exchange money if you don't really need it because it's just expensive or low rate. In case you buy a simcard and you stay for more 1 week, ask them to register your simcard to the 3G package (the package name depends on each network) that costs you only 70.000 dong/month (it means less than 4usd/month). There are also 3G daily packages. If your stay is short, you can use it. The package names are varies from each network, but it's just 5.000-8000 dong (less than 0.5usd/day). If you intend to go to some remote places (like in the jungles, mountains), you should choose Viettel simcard for the most powerful signal.
