About Me
Hello! My name's Sky. I was born in France, but lived in multiple countries growing up. (I tend to not answer the "where are you from?" question if I can...). I've just finished studying in Madrid for the semester. Though I should be spending more time studying for my Aerospace Engineering degree, you can usually find me curled up with a good book, or outside either visiting the town, or hiking in the nearest mountain range I find. I love traveling to new places and discovering new cultures, exploring with the help of locals, learning people's stories...
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love to travel, however doing the usual touristy activities (settling into a hotel, going sightseeing, visiting museums) doesn't really allow me to learn about the places I visit. Nothing beats meetings locals and learning from those people!
Interests
I collect giraffes, books, magnets, and foreign coins... A bit random I know. I love reading, just about any genre, especially fantasy. I'm always up for anything outdoors. Well, mostly hiking, rock climbing, and canoeing. I haven't really tried the rest yet. I've also got a massive sweet tooth, so baking's right up my alley! Cooking is a bit harder, but I'm learning to trust the powers of experimentation.

Music, Movies, and Books
There's a great quote by Neil Gaiman that states "“Picking five favorite books is like picking the five body parts you'd most like not to lose.” With that in mind, here are a few books that I love: Ready Player One by Ernest Cline, The Martian by Andy Weir, Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman, Fire by Kristin Cashore, Vicious by V. E. Schwab, Harry Potter (obviously)... and so so many more!
As for music, I'm currently listening to the Hamilton soundtrack on repeat. But to be honest, I'm pretty eclectic in my tastes, ranging from Disney to classical, with a bit of rock, pop, and very occasionally rap and country!
Right now, I'm re-watching all of Doctor Who and keeping up with Wynona Earp on TV.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've jumped out of an airplane for my 19th birthday. Don't worry, I had a parachute strapped to my back! I'm not completely crazy. [Just a tad really.] The feeling of your stomach rushing up to our throat, followed by the gentle walking-on-air feeling once the parachute is open, is truly incredible. My first thought on the ground: when can I jump again?!
Teach, Learn, Share
If you want to practice your French or your English, my door (or rather my mouth) is always open. (Sorry, I'm terrible at puns.) I also love to share recipes, especially for chocolate cakes. And if you want to talk about books, I have more recommendations than there are days in a year...
