Über mich

CURRENT MISSION

To expand my field of vision and improve the reputation of Americans, one couch at a time.

ABOUT ME

Eleven years ago, ready to move from NYC to Seattle (Nirvana days) I was sidetracked by my dad's illness and moved to Florida instead. I wouldn't have stayed after his recovery but I had just started jumping out of airplanes and I was having way too much fun to move away from the good weather, so I stayed.
I started to teach skydiving for a living in 2000 and had an amazing run for several years but recently decided that if I were to do anything else with my life, work-wise, that I'd better get a move on it so I made the move into the "real world." I still love to skydive and do still teach on the weekends but primarily want to keep it as a hobby from this point forward.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is very short. I've lost a lot of friends. I used to say "I can't wait until tomorrow" until a friend told me "not to wish my life away." Excellent advice!I never kill bugs because I am but a mere bug in the scheme of things.

Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Paris, France '06-'07: Hosted by Celine and Amelie over New Year's. It was so great of them to put my friend Katie and I up over a holiday. They even took us to a New Year's Eve party and didn't mind that we ditched to visit the Tower for an hour. Celine and David are coming to Florida to visit and I'm totally stoked!

Nice, France: Hosted by Stephanie, Laurent and Besma. Didn't get to spend much time with Besma cause she was away for most of our stay but Laurent and Steph are cool! Thanks for allowing us to stay with you! I look forward to moving to St. Paul DeVence and seeing you more often.

Marseille, France: Surfed with Daniel at the very last minute and he still accepted us. Smart, interesting and genuine dude!

Interessen

Travel: If I could count the number of profiles that list this as an interest, I'd be spending much more time on here than I already do. That said, I love to travel more than anything else!Cooking: I love to cook and I'm not too bad either. When I try to invent new things like orange chicken though, it usually doesn't work out too well :) Skydiving: It plays such an important roll in my life. Words could never explain the impact that this sport and lifestyle have had on my life. I have about 5,500 jumps and I aint quiting any time soonGolf: I try to go as often as possible. I still suck really badly but who cares? I'm starting to get a bit better though now that I've traded a golf pro lessons for skydives. I love there barter system.Chess: I love playing chess. I don't often find anyone to play with though and I really don't enjoy online chess. I'm not too bad but I'm unpredictable and make a lot of foolish/amature mistakes. I'd love to have a couchsurfer who plays chess visit.

Musik, Filme und Bücher

I read a lot of self improvement books. I used to be into metal but I don't really follow much of anything anymore. Mostly what's on the radio (which usually sucks!)

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

When I turned 16, I joined the New York City Guardian Angels (vigilante crime fighting organization). I was obviously too young, and I became very paranoid. I quit after a crackhead tried to punch my head off. I actually think that's hysterical now that I look back at it.

When I was 20, I traveled to Seattle, Wa. to attend a stunt workshop. I thought I might want to try a career in movies (ha, ha!). I did some high falls, stunt driving and I got to set myself on fire. Sucker still burned after it was out!

I got my mother to jump out of an airplane. It changed her life too. She would literally panic when we'd go more than 35 mph in a car so it was that much more monumental.
All travel experiences have been life changing. Travel changes perspective and life.

Lehren, lernen, teilen

I can offer people the opportunity to skydive cheaply! (But that's a relative term). I've been doing it for a long, long time.

I'd love to learn from people how to travel more and feel less guilty about taking the time off (from work and family.)
