About Me

I used to try to conform to what I thought I was supposed to do. All while never really being happy. Once I realized traveling was who I was and my nature. My life has never been the same! Lately I have been sailing all around the Central Pacific Islands. Next big TRIP is New Zealand.

I try to travel and live my life by simple code. To be Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, and Reverent. To some of you this might sound familiar. It is the Scout Law. It is something I learned as an adolescent and have carried with me ever since. What can I say except that I am an Eagle Scout. Those who have met other Eagle Scouts or are one, understand this Law. And understand how we practice those values each day.

If you host me, I'll probably try to cook at least once for you! I have been able to experience a lot in my short 28 years. I am very blessed.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Over the year I have realized something. To trulely exerpence a new culture and destination, one can not stick to the well traveled paths, see the sites and views which are what we are meant to see when visitng a new area... "Tourist hot spots".

For me, I enjoy the road less traveled. Or to be more accurate the hidden treasures which require a trusted new local friend to show you the way to where they live, how they live, how they enjoy the places they choose to live their lives.

Couch surfing isn't a means to find a place to lay your things at night, Its a way to connect to the locals from all walks of life. To experience and see the world through a different view point. I enjoy this type of travel the most. Get away from the crowds, noise, lights, and unreal expectations. I want to connect, contribute to the community, learn, and take only life experiences out of my travels. And maybe a few pictures.

Interests

I work and live on the water. Anywhere I travel I try and get a day on the water to sail, fish, or dive. If there is a marina in a city I am traveling in, I always stop by to speak with a few captains, grab a drink, and see if there are any races scheduled in the near future.

This upcoming trip to New Zealand will definitely be all about high adventure sports. Whitewater rafting, scuba diving, and bungee jumping are just a few I would like to try. Idealy I will be able to do most of these: http://www.backpackerguide.nz/8-newest-weirdest-extreme-activities-new-zealand/

And of course I will also be sure to leave time for lots of hiking and climbing!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Only One! This is impossible. So many experiences have shaped me to who I am today. Last year I dove at The Grotto in Saipan, Mariana Islands. It is a deep-ish technical-ish dive of which my group decided to do with no guide. Instead I read every piece of information I could get my hands on and lead my friends to the most amazing dive of my life.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am not a teacher by trade. But I do love sharing my knowledge and skills with those to also share my love of the outdoors and exploring our world.

If you care to learn any of my many interests or hobbies(see above), I promise to guide to the best of my ability. If we both feel comfortable pursuing an area you would like me to teach you. I am totally game.

I'd like to learn a language or various local cultural customs and traditions.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'll probably try to cook you a home cooked meal, wash dishes, fix stuff around the house, be some good company.

I admit, I tend to be a humble guy and try not to talk too much about myself. I am good listener and always quick to give praise/thanks were it is deserved. But I am sure if I get a drink or two in me, I will have no trouble talking about all the places I have visited and experiences I have had.
