About Me
ABOUT ME
I am a very outgoing person that is nearing a point in my life where work will be a priority. I am almost done in college majoring in Fisheries and have already been working as a seasonal for the Forest Service for the last few years. When I graduate, I will be in a full time job, so now is the time to have an adventure.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Because I enjoy learning and living vicariously through new people when I can't have my own adventures. I like meeting new people and making connections. I love learning about new cultures and ideas and I believe this cultural immersion is key to creating a happy, well-rounded, individual.
Interests
I am a beekeeper, reader, bluegrass enthusiast, a banjo, guitar, and bass player, aquarist, adventurer, practitioner of archery, lover of the wild, and a seasonal protector of animals.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
When I turned 18 I abruptly left my home in Alabama and moved to the Dominican Republic for six months to work on a shrimp farm. I this trip, and particularly one moment, is what I call the pivotal point in my life. I went from a country boy raised in Alabama and very naive, to learning about a whole new part of the world and culture. I rejected the influences that the Dominican Republic kept trying to thrust upon me, and I was miserable. After some time there, I broke, and embraced a completely different type of lifestyle. This is the lifestyle I still try hard to live today- one of openness, and acceptance.
Teach, Learn, Share
I have a variety of different hobbies and ideals. I am the most open-minded person you have ever met, and I LOVE to talk. I appreciate humor of all types and love playing music, enjoying a good whiskey, and learning or teaching about culture, science (I'm a biologist) and hobbies. Have you ever wanted to learn how to play a guitar or maybe another instrument? I love playing music and I have given crash courses to several people who still play today. If you stay here there is a great chance that many local musicians may come over and have a jam session. I play bluegrass, americana, folk, and country, but in the end its all about having a good time.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can happily work, keep a great conversation, and contribute to housecleaning/chores. I am also more than willing to pitch in for food or other things associated with my time there. I really LOVE learning about local areas if you're the type of host that likes to immerse their guests in local culture. I grew up in Alabama and have a lot of gardening experience. If you're interested in beekeeping or music, I have a ton to offer you in those areas. as well! If you have any questions regarding myself potentially staying at your house, please feel free to call me or email me. I'm an open book!
