About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Get my hands dirty and change the world.

ABOUT ME

Born and raised on a small farm in rural Texas, I developed a deep appreciation for the environment and water. Ever since I left to go to school in Boston, I've dedicated my life's work to studying and improving the world's understanding of our most basic natural resources - water, energy, and food.

As a result, I have a deep appreciation for the outdoors, fom hiking in the mountains to relaxing on the beach. I love to spend my days in the sun.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is what we make of it, and we can only understand ourselves as we relate to others.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

When I lived in Boston, I was lucky to host a couple surfers when I had the room. But I'm currently in between cities and doing some travelling for a few months looking to meet new people.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted and surfed with some of my best friends, and have also warmly welcomed complete strangers into my home.

Interests

At my core, I'm a technical fundamentalist. I seek to understand the world through the lens of first principals. Without appreciating how technology was developed, how societies were formed, we can't expect to understand the complex interactions that play out today.

Music, Movies, and Books

My interests here are all over the place, but below are some highlights:

Moby, Banks, Jay-Z, Nightwish, Galactic, MISSIO

Jared Diamond, Michael Crichton, Alan Watts

Jurassic Park, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

New Year's Eve at the Red Square in Moscow

Cheering at a Beşiktaş football game surrounded by thousands of screaming fans in Istanbul -- we won.

Finishing my first Half-Ironman in Syracuse, NY. After five hours of pure physical exertion, crossing that finish line was an amazing feeling.

Seeing the sun rise over a freshly planted field of wheat after working through the night to get it in before the rains set in.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am passionate about natural reaources - water, soil, ecology, and food. My work has spanned farming, construction, Internet of Things, and software development. I'm also a triathlete.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm a handyman and willing to work and contribute to the house from cooking breakfast to painting the walls.

I will always offer you a beer!
