Overview
About Me
My name is Romain and I'm a 28 year old french traveling around the world since October 2013. I finished my studies in 2013 and started traveling straightaway after it to improve my english in Australia during one year.
I have been backpacking in Australia for 1 year, Asia for 2 months, South America for 4 months, Africa 2 months, North America/Central America for 4 months, Middle East for 2 months and South East Asia for 3 months.
I am currently traveling through latin America and the Carribean islands.
I consider myself as an easy going person, open-minded with a good sense of humor. I am also a "Carpe Diem" person therefore I enjoy my life at the present moment and I do not really think about the future. One of my favorite quote is "Do not dream your life, live your dreams"
During all my journeys I had the opportunities to taste different foods across the world and Asian food is one of my favorite, cheap and yummy :) But as a french I miss a lot the food which I was born with haha
Looking forward to hearing from you guys
Cheers Romain
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am using Couchsurfing because that's the best way to meet local people during my journey and learn more about the culture and the language. I had a few Couchsurfing experiences during my journey in South America and it was very successful. I'm looking forward to renewing this experience as soon as possible.
Interests
Traveling, but this is probably the interest which is listed the most at couchsurfing, we all do.
I like playing and watching almost of the sports except boring ones like weight lifting or curling haha. I've been following NBA for like 8 years now so I can't wait to watch a NBA game in USA soon.
Hanging out with friends, having few drinks and heading to night clubs

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm not a picky one about music even if I'd rather listen to 70-80th music to make me enjoying the dance floor. Whatever you listen to, I would be glad to know new songs from your country and add them on my playlist :)
I am a huge fan of Clint Eastwood, Denzel Washington, Russell Crow
I also like watching comedy movies to distract myself
Californication, Narcos, Master of Sex, Breaking Bad, Banshee, How I Met Your Mother, Suits ...
Unfortunately I'm not a book lover but I'm working on it :D
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
When you are stuck at your house and your routine, you can't really imagine what the Planet Earth has to offer to you. That's only when you start traveling that you realise there are plenty of astonishing places around the world that you didn't even know about it!! I know that's only one thing but as a traveler that's impossible to just quote one so I'm gonna make my Top 7
7 - Perito Moreno (ARGENTINA)
In front of that massive piece of ice (54 meters) I was like a kid staring at a cartoon, waiting hours for a piece measuring the size of a boat falling down and making that unexpected sound
6 - Niagara Falls (CANADA)
First time I was abroad by my own and I saw this huge water falls in front of my eyes
5 - Getting my PADI Open Water in Bali (INDONESIA)
Discovering the marine world is an experience, another way to move. You feel so free swimming around tons of different fishes that you didn't know about their existence
4 - Machu Picchu (PERU)
Even if I had seen heaps of photos on google that's still very spectacular when you see it from your own eyes, I was speechless about that architecture
3 - Salar de Uyuni (BOLIVIA)
I didn't expect of seeing different landscapes in 2 days (lagoons, volcano, mountains, geysers and the world's largest salt flat)
2 - Acatenango volcano hike (GUATEMALA)
Hike lovers, you won't be disappointed hiking Acatenango (3976 meters) to witness Fuego volcano erupting for the sunset and sunrise. 2 days/1 night hike which is really worth it and allows you to surpass yourself.
1 - Carnival de Barranquilla (COLOMBIA)
How describe this share of happiness!! First of all I stayed at a place where there were bunch of couch surfers from all over the world who I had so much fun with. Second of all I witnessed the passion of dance of this country, no matter how old they are. And finally, I celebrated my 26th birthday over there, what a huge memory I'll keep in my mind dancing with all of them and sharing!! Must do in Colombia!!
Teach, Learn, Share
In my case, having a Couchsurfing Experience is about sharing our experiences and giving some advises to each other. Also learning about the country history, the culture and the language where I'm traveling to.
I could try to teach you some basic french if you want to.
My spanish level used to be good enough when I was at school but since that I learnt english I get confused and I would like to get my spanish level back haha
