About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To get out in the world.

ABOUT ME

My name's Sean. I love people because they're my species.

PHILOSOPHY

To be a typical liberal, I believe everyone should pursue what makes them happiest while improving as many lives as possible.

I'd also say I'm an existentialist, fascinated with post-structuralism.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Mostly inactive at the moment.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Throughout my 20s, my friends have hosted a number of CSers. I've always been someone tangentially around – giving directions and rides, taking people to see what Arizona has to offer, etc.

Interests

I love books and any sort of periodical. I write for a living, though it's not quite as luxurious as it might seem. I love coffee and conversations. I like mellow wines and old films. I'm all right with occasionally going out all night.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love Heart of Darkness, Gravity's Rainbow, and East of Eden.

I love Sub Pop and most anything you can get through their artists using last.fm. Dick Dale, too.

I love Criterion movies. Exterminating Angel and Last Year at Marienbad are two favorites of mine. Harold and Maude, too.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was in London, at the Tate. I turned a corner and unexpectedly walked into a John Heartfield exhibit. I love his work and getting to see such a breadth of it, without the slightest implication it was going to be there, was simply stunning.

Also, seeing Meredith Framption's massive works in real life.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can offer you a dearth of information about Western literature, literary criticism, and philosophy where it intersects. I have a decent grasp of political theory, as well, but I primarily filter it through the lens of American politics (unfortunately).

I can show you how to set up a blog for you adventures, prettify it, and make your photos look a little better than they did originally.

I can also teach you how to turn lead into gold, water into wine, and troglodytes into crying babies.
