About Me

CURRENT MISSION

more reading more writing more thought more action less sitting still.

ABOUT ME

Live in LA where I help arts and social justice organizations stay afloat and work on strange little art projects. I grew up mostly in California, went to university in Scotland for Sustainable Development and ran a theater company there.

After High School I asked 20 people I respected what they wished they had done when they were younger and every one said, "travel!" So that's a big part of what I'm trying to do with my 20s.

Do a lot of artsy stuff, mostly directing/acting/writing/drawing/comic-ing at the moment... I try to maintain an artist's mindset without an artist's attitute. I tend to be a student of what I shouldn't be studying: Wikipedia, blogs, iTunes U, TED Talks. Also: drawing with charcoal, dancing badly, hitch-hiking in the rain, eating constantly, writing plays, being perpetually amazed by snow.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Couchsurfed in Egypt (1 week) and South Korea (1 month!). Semi-couchsurfed in Portugal. Hosted in St Andrews (Australians, French, Canadians, Americans, students to gurus and everything in between).

Slept on my couch a couple times. Does that count?

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Korea! Rode a motorbike for the first time, learned poi basics, did acting workshops in Korean, surfed, jet skied for the first time, hung out with mechanics. In Scotland, hosted a laughter guru and taught a Canadian rugby. In Jordan, picked olives and went rock climbing.

Interests

Aztecs. Computers. Sloths. Drama (theatre). Ice cream and things you can mix in it. Surrealist art. Lamp posts. The Lord of the Rings. Kafka and Murakami. History, especially Egytian, Norse, and Mayan. Diving off waterfalls. The internet. Urban exploration and roof climbing. Cities, rainforests, and deserts. Feeling cold. Islam and religion in general. Chinese dumplings. Green tech. Working out. Ecosystems, poststructuralism and the internet revolution. Children's television. Sincerity, or the end of irony.
