Overview
About Me
Hi there! My name is Sarah. I have been living and working in beautiful Aotearoa/ New Zealand for the last six years, but have spent most of my life in the good 'ol friendly Midwest of the United States. I have an insatiable travel bug and spend a fair amount of time daydreaming about the next weekend adventure or overseas travel. I love being outside and feel the best when I am out hiking/tramping, rock climbing, skiing, cycling or mountaineering. Nature is my happy place. When I am not outside, I work as a cancer genetic counselor. I love meeting new people and learning about and exploring new places and cultures.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
In my experience, one of the best ways to really see a new place is in the company of a local. Therefore, I'd love to both share and receive local knowledge while traveling.
I will be traveling Europe for 7 weeks in March/April 2019.

Music, Movies, and Books
I think the best word to describe my taste in all of these things is: eclectic. I love reading historical and science fiction books, but also love stories about adventure! I listen to a whole range of music, but some of my all-time favorites include: Neil Young, James Taylor, Bon Iver, and John Mayer. I love finding new artists and attending live concerts every now and then.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Camped on a snow plateau in Mt Cook National Park in New Zealand. Shortly after setting up the tent, gale force winds ripped through the valley and I was certain the tent and its belongings would be strewn as far the eye could see. Fortunately, that didn't happen. I didn't get much sleep, but in the morning woke to one of the most beautiful sunrises next to New Zealand's tallest peak, Aoraki/Mt Cook. It was one of the first mountain trips I had, and safe to say it got me hooked!
