About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To learn about how rivers function, how we engineer their flow and how their form engineers our development. To write about rivers exploration, water resource issues, and the intricacies of travel. To move my body every day. To love. To grow.

ABOUT ME

My passions guide me and work follows. The quest for the world's sweetest whitewater kayaking began this lifestyle, from there it has evolved into deeper education and preservation. My heart is on the river.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

After years of living on the road, in tents, and anywhere in between; my husband and I now have a couch to offer others. Corvallis is a sweet little town, with wonderful local food and beautiful surrounding hills. Volcanos, oceans, and more not far away!

I attended the CS camp out in Colorado one summer with a friend from my childhood and learned about the wonderful world of CS! Enough of my friends have told me about it since then that I simply had to jump on the train. Here we go...

Interests

Being Outside: Kayak, Run, Bike, Yoga, you name it.
Writing: About my day, About your day, About the epiphany I had this morning on the toilet, About everything
Learning: In every moment, of every day. I am forever a student of the universe.

Music, Movies, and Books

I watch more documentaries about adventure, discovery in the outdoors, and conservation movements than hollywood blockbuster these days. Action-packed and beautiful scenes. However, I am a sucker for superhero movies.

Bluegrass, HipHop, Classic Rock, Ambient...spotify keeps things different and fresh.

Books that teach end up on my list. Non-fiction, likely having something to do with rivers or water resource issues.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have kayaked the Yangtze at flood stage. I have taught kids how to kayak on the Salween. I held my grandmother's hand as she moved into the next world. I have ridden the train in India, taken my high school history class to Machu Picchu, and been awarded fellowships to study rivers as a female scientist. I married my best friend during a 3-day Oregon coast getaway with 130 of my closest friends, I trained my dog to love snuggle time, and I have escorted new friends down rivers in Mexico. And there is so much more to come....

What I Can Share with Hosts

My husband and I have a bed (futon) in a spare room. You are welcome to use our kitchen and snuggle our dog, Wallace.
