Overview
About Me
I am a searcher and a finder. I make connections.
I am thorough, curious, many-sided and moody.
I get tired of words quite quickly, which sometimes makes hosting and being hosted a bit difficult for me, as I am trying to be polite and somehow silence is rarely an accepted way of being together. I wish it were more accepted - or that I was less polite :).
I work as a statistician, but before that, I was a baker. So we can talk about GDP or gluten, I know quite a lot about both :) Though the later you read this, the more I will know about the former and the less about the latter.
When I am not working, I spend quite a lot of time exploring inner and outer worlds. I spend more energy on exploring the world than on shaping it, but I hope this will change in the future.
I dance a lot since a while, mostly in the form of a conscious movement practice called 5 Rhythms. It has become a regular practice for me, and a way of finding connection, freedom, challenge and inspiration again and again, as well as a way to perceive the world.
Besides I spend my time by reading about economics, psychology and spirituality - sometimes fiction, but lately not that much. And also by cooking (mostly vegetarian), eating and taking care of things around me.
I put articles which I find interesting or inspiring here: https://getpocket.com/@smoortema
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I believe in sharing, in hospitality, in coming together: there are so many resources to give and to receive. I like this way of meeting people.
After Couchsurfing changed to a forprofit institution, I decided to move to Bewelcome. You can find me there and on Trustroots as well.
Interests
I love: people, fruits, conscious dancing, walking in the hills and forests, cooking and eating, having a long Sunday breakfast in good company, the first moments after jumping in water, sleeping on the train, working with my hands and having physical results, working together, discovering other parts of the world, speaking languages, crossing one of the bridges in Budapest, having a nap, looking up at trees from under, honey, yoghurt, walnuts, salads, leek, eggplant, spagetti, butter, bread and a lot more.

Connection.
Teach, Learn, Share
I know quite a lot about baking breads, but I am not a home baker, so I am not sure I can help in that, but I can have ideas. I know economics quite well, and also national accounts: measuring GDP, and the like.
What I Can Share with Hosts
A walk, a talk, a silence, a breakfast, a dinner, a ride, a dance.
