About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Working on a Couchsurfing documentary, personally exploring the people and the culture, one cushion at a time

ABOUT ME

Previously a documentary major at Columbia College Chicago. Dropped out in the beginning of 2010 and travelled Europe for a few months, and upon coming back switched majors to Horticultural Science, which I'm currently studying at the University of Illinois.
I'm as easy going as they come, and love talking to anyone, anytime, about anything!

PHILOSOPHY

I think it's best to not live by the words of other men, but when they're this good it's hard to help it.

"Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies — "God damn it, you've got to be kind."

"We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be."

Sir Vonnegut on both counts.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Started work on a couchsurfing(ish) documentary, and have a 15 minute short of it done. I plan on putting more work into it down the line when I'm done with my travels.
Now I'm a horticultural Science major at the University of Illinois, with plans to bike across the U.S. upon completion

Also hosted as much as I could, while could. Recently became able to host again, but we'll see if any surfers come through this little town.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Met some of the most inspiring, wonderful people I think I'll ever find. In one week, my entire life was flipped upside down.
I had 4 guys stay at my house (a solo hitchhiker and a car trapped trio). In one week

Music, Movies, and Books

For a start
Books-
Breakfast of Champions- Kurt Vonnegut (anything Vonnegut really)
The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch - Philip K. Dick (anything Dick as well)
Murakami
Grant Morrison
and more, and more, and more

Music-
Ska, and Post-Punk are my mainstays, but I listen to a lot outside of that. 60's psych, modern indie, neo-classical, post-rock, etc. Check my page?

Movies-
As with everything else, I'm all over the board on these. Huge fan of Wes Anderson (Royal Tenenmbaums especially) 90's slacker movement (Especially Kevin Smith and Richard Linklater) 80's John Cusack and John Carpenter films, tons of classic noir (Blast of Silence being my favorite), and everything sci-fi.
