About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Travel, share knowledge, meet decent human beings, and continue pushing forward!

ABOUT ME

Apart from shrouding myself in mystery, I appreciate good food, drink, good company and focused sessions of art making. I have a particular love of making music. And good cocktails. My aim in traveling is to have as many unique, interesting, fun and more importantly, BEAUTIFUL experiences as possible. Playing with kids, talking to old people and casting a wry eye over life serendipitous moments is what I like most. I raise chickens, ducks and the occasional flock of turkeys. Animals make me happy; they're so much fun! My super power would be invisibility and if I could live out a fantasy life it most likely would be that of a world traveling mercenary of justice. And thats that.

PHILOSOPHY

Flippant philosophy; He who hesitates is lost. But then again fools rush in, so I don't know; pick your placebo.

More serious philosophy; evolutionary biology and psychology guide actions. Probe deeper into the true meaning of things.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Groups, meet ups, host, and hopefully one day surf.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have hosted people before but never been hosted. I love meeting new people and showing them around Seattle proper, and learning about where they come from; cross-cultural, personal exchange is my beat, can ya dig it, man?

Interests

Travel, music, film, art, drink, food, friends, community, animals (did I mention animals are great?), love, sailing, large bodies of water, astronomy, talking shite, and some surprises along the way.

Music, Movies, and Books

Anything by Ron Fricke. Philip Glass, Steve Reich, Any Ethnic/local/cultural/traditional music from around the world, Sigur Ros, Talking Heads, Peter Gabriel, Ludwig van Beethoven, Igor Stravinsky and many many others, too great to mention. Dune, Blink, Dante's Inferno, Shakespeare, JRR Tolkien, Philip Pullman, Cormac Mccarthy, Vladimir Nobokov, oh and Twilight, duh.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I saw the aurora on eye level in a plane at 40,000 ft over Canada, and observed galaxies, stars, celestial bodies millions of years in the past. (They are wholly beyond what a human was designed or expected to see.) Even more amazing, I've also gotten to know and befriend a lot of beautiful, amazing people in my life and share some real memorable experiences with them; the true privilege.

Teach, Learn, Share

I like giving advice to guys on what to say to that cute girl over there on the other side of the bar, and then seeing the results of my coaching.

Music and pacing in art. You got some music, film or art to pace? I'll help you pace it to evoke the maximum (or minimum) emotion response!

Social theory and evolutionary biology. You got some social dynamics/evolutionary biological questions? I have emphatic answers (or opinions).

Want to know how to gybe better? Raise, slaughter, clean and cook poultry? Tie a one-handed bowline? Count to 10 in Swedish? ... you get the picture.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Cambodia, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Laos, Mexico, Myanmar, Netherlands, Sweden, Thailand, United Kingdom, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In
