Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
to be creative and kind.
ABOUT ME
I hope to be an opera singer when I grow up. For now I'm finding a way to fit that into my life in small ways. I am disgustingly earnest sometimes, and delightfully cynical at others. I have been cooking since I was 5, and have owned my own baking business. I have now taken 2 amazing cross country adventures, and pretty much constantly think about taking another.
PHILOSOPHY
I try to live my life with a good balance of kindness, fun, and art. I also believe that there is an inherent dichotomy to most parts of life, and that it's better to embrace that than deny it for the sake of some sort of made up image.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Through having lived with Ivan, I have had the amazing experience of getting to host tons of people. They've all had something to teach me, and great stories.
I've also 'surfed cross country which was an absolutely stunning experience that renewed my faith in human kindness and spirit.

Music, Movies, and Books
Josh Ritter, Girlyman, Moxy Fruvous, Belle and Sebastian, Deb Talan, The Indigo Girls, Tom Waits, Bernstein, Britten, Poulenc, and Tom Waits are some of my favorite musicians.
David Sedaris, Neil Gaiman, Laura Lippman, Lewis Thomas, and Richard Preston are some of my favorite authors.
Amelie, A Very Long Engagement, Kissing Jessica Stein, Finding Neverland, Benny and Joon, Harold and Maude, V for Vendetta, Juno, Pan's Labrynth, and Bridesmaids are my favorite movies.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
So, when I left Santa Fe, it immediately became clear that I would have to drive really quickly, and pretty constantly to make it to Moab, Utah where I was staying in a hostel. By the time I made it to the outskirts I was a little loony from having not stopped for about 7 hours. Exhausted, I drove through the amazing rock walls, arches and mountains of Moab, and it was a holy and terrifying experience. There is a magic to that place and those stones that is as magnetic as it is repellent. When I arrived at the hostel, I got the last empty bed, and that evening, I had my first limited experience with moonshine.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach almost anyone to cook or bake, and getting the chance to gain that confidence is hugely helpful. I also love teaching people to dance or sing.
I want to learn to hula hoop, change a tire, and crochet.
