About Me

I am optimistic, funny, open-minded and get on with everybody.
I love learning how people think and feel about life and different issues.
I try to judge no one. I am passionate about human rights and celebrate human diversity.
I am a culture lover.
I love the ocean.
I love animals, gardens and nature.
Strong interest in Tibet and try to follow Buddhism.
Asia is my second home.
I love being a bit crazy in life, love spontaneity, things 'out of left field' (totally unexpected)!
I am sensitive and considerate of others.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Make new friends.
Learn, share and grow.
Spontaneity.
All are friends waiting to be discovered!

"You have to be on the outside to look in".

I work in Community Services - currently raising awareness on Elder Abuse. We heavily promote connectedness with lots of people in order to avoid social isolation and its attendant vulnerabilies.
Human beings are social animals!
I believe that people - especially new and different friends - provide the greatest joy in human life.

I intend to start hosting in the near future as I fully support the concept of reciprocity mirrored on this site and take great joy in getting to know new and interesting people. It is the elixir of life 😊
My home - near the beach south of Perth - will always be open to friends I stay with here. Gardens and birds and open blue skies abound!

Interests

I love culture - Asian culture in particular.
People are more important to me than places.
I treasure my close friends. I believe I am loyal and attentive.
I love water - beaches, hot springs, kayaking, swimming, boating.
I am a big nature lover, so am always up for a hike into the countryside!
I love history, politics, social justice and comedy!!!

Music, Movies, and Books

Just about all genres - old and new; world music; Amdo singers.
I have a soft spot for all types of folk music, including pop folk like the amazing Lukas Graham.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A personal audience with His Holiness The XIVth Dalai Lama of Tibet in 2010.
Nothing will ever top this. I walked away as if I was floating a few centimetres off the ground, not caring whatever might befall me in life after this day.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have completed a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) course - so happy to help with your English!
I believe in life-long learning ... the greatest learning we receive is from each other.
Perhaps .. I can share my passion on human rights around the world; and how politics reflects how the cards are stacked ... either on your side or the other ...
I have a deep interest in Indigenous peoples and knowledge systems.
I understand how marginalisation impacts on the 'other'.
I do enjoy cooking. I am happy to go out and hit the town ;)
I can also share my knowledge of travel to places like Tibet and around the world (my Mother was Dutch).

What I Can Share with Hosts

My ears.
My sense of humour.
My empathy.
My food.
I can cook, am tidy and will contribute to your home in every way.
